I am glad that nations once again want a seat at the table with the US and are willing to bend their wills to do it. I am a little worried that this was a ploy by the leadership in Iran to maintain power against a growing demand for relationships with the US... I hope it is more then a one time gesture.

Ironically, Obama's more conciliatory tone is one of the greatest threats that Iran's fundamentalist leadership faces. They depend enormously on demonizing the US to justify their rule. Cracks are already beginning to show.

'The court ordered the reduction as a gesture of "Islamic mercy"'

        awwwwww... see that folks...
The Iranian mullahs are wonderful, merciful people. And, by inference, so is the 12th Imam.

Lesson: Clearly, all it takes for us to achieve our geopolitical goals is niceness. awwwwwwwww! What could be simpler? In fact, disarming in its simplicity.

BTW, don't forget what Mao said about diplomacy.
