Bush Pentagon and Defense Contractors Couldn't Even Give Our Troops Enough Safe Drinking Water »
Posted By metavirus 6 months, 2 weeks ago in Political NewsNew shocking reports have revealed that our troops have been forced to steal water because defense contractors such as Halliburton have either not provided enough water to meet their basic needs or provided them with water loaded with contaminants. What the hell happened to "Support the Troops"? Is there anything the Bush Pentagon and its cronies at Halliburton *didn't* screw up?

it's so sad. these are the bravest people our country has to offer. they put themselves in harm's way and how do we repay them? WITH KIDNEY STONES! as if they didn't have enough to worry about with all the, you know, guns and bombs...

This p***es me off as much as the war itself!

Of course it does. Since 2003, liberals such as you have been actively trying to cut funding for the war in Iraq, but now that you have a story where supplies have been actually diverted from our soldiers....well, now that's a whole different story.
You are no different than the rest.

I encourage everyone to bypass the attempt at journalism and just read the actual story here:

Please note, that this was occurring at the time Democrats wanted to cut funding for the war. The year of 2007 and 2008 represent a Democrat controlled Congress that wanted to pull funding for our troops, not increase it. Consider how much worse things would have been had they gotten their way.-

Robey said in 2003 his company would run out of water on missions, forcing them to improvise, like drinking water from whatever taps they found.
Unfortunately, the often-untreated Iraqi water can cause intestinal illnesses. Robey said 50 to 60 members of his company got dysentery.
Desperate, Robey said he and his commander were reduced to stealing water from supplies stored at Baghdad International Airport.
They found plenty, in the hands of civilian contractors who Robey claims were supposed to be distributing it to soldiers.
"You just had pallets upon pallets upon pallets of (bottled) water," Robey said. -

again, you appear to not understand what "blogging" entails. if you want to point me to a clause in the Propeller terms of use that prohibits people from sharing blog articles with the community, great. otherwise, stop trying to throw crap all over peoples' posts

Please note that this had NOTHING to do with funding and EVERYTHING TO DO with the contractors that Bush/CheneyCo picked by no-bid contracts (oddly enough to Cheney's former company -- hmm). There was no LACK of water, it was just being hoarded by the very contractors who were supposed to be distributing it to troops.
Stop trying to worm your way out of responsibility for not caring for our troops, something the GOP has claimed to be doing, but in reality has never done. -

If the water service was paid for already then the congressional debates about limiting funding (which never actually happened) could not have affected the qualtity or quanity of water being delivered to our troops. Don't attempt to form an alternate reality.

I am sorry for the troops, who had to suffer from thirst, but the war itself was the true mistake! There were so many strategic inadequacies that Cheney, Rumsfeld and Halliburton would all have had reasons enough to refuse. The drinking water-problem also makes it evident that even the most modern arms are useless without knowing the landscape and being used to the local climate!

If you actually read, you'll notice it had nothing to do with funding. The water was THERE. It just wasn't being distributed by the contractors being paid ridiculous amounts of money and triple-billing the US for work it never did.

Clearly there is a problem with the nihilibs here.

You never supported the Iraqi conflict and never supported the soldiers there.
Now I believe, myself, that the secretary of state, the secretary of defense and you have to make your own decision as to what the president knows: that this war is lost, that the surge is not accomplishing anything," Harry Reid, April 19, 2007
...There was no firefight, there was no IED (improvised explosive device) that killed these innocent people. Our troops overreacted because of the pressure on them, and they killed innocent civilians in cold blood." Jack Murtha, May 16, 2006

San Francisco Democrats Tell Pelosi To Vote Against Iraq War Funding
The problem is you liberals and your idiotic agenda. Back in 2003 to this point in time, you've been actively trying to thwart the U.S. efforts in Iraq instead of helping us win this war.
If you had only tried to help provide a solution, things would have been much easier on our troops.-

Bush wanted to go. Bush got his wish, with support of the dems. So, you get to pick one point of view. Did the dems support Bush or did not support Bush. You can't cherry-pick that depending on the argument you want to make. It is or it isn't. Tread carefully because I will remind you every time there is an attempt to portray that support differently than you state now.

Things would have been much easier on our troops if we hadn't listened to the false and misleading information that was supplied to us and the congress. The cherry picked intelligence reports, the lies about aluminum tubes and radioactive material from Niger that never existed. This whole mess and all the deaths and injuries both military and civilian can be laid at the feet of Bush and Cheney. The posters on this thread know this yet you insist on supporting this horror and blaming everyone except the ones responsible. ( )*( )

its amazing how people like Hhussk and tang can get on here and actually defend KBR/Halliburton for what they did to our soldiers.

if you really care about the health and welfare of our soldiers, why aren't you guys steaming mad at KBR? they're the ones who let our soldiers down in this case. not the dems.
