"We had a call from George Herbert Walker Bush, and he wants to debate with you on which is the finest aircraft carrier, his or yours," Kerry teased.

"I didn't say aircraft carrier," Carter corrected. "I said warship."

    He is too much!!!!

I take after my Mom. She never cared for folks that blow their own horns, either.

      FTA:
The man who tried 30 years ago to cure the nation's energy ills then went downstairs to a reminder of that failed effort: the 14-mile-per-gallon Chevy Suburban that was waiting for him.

Guess Carter isn't really concerned about energy conservation any more than Al Gore is!

A lot of time has passed since Carter was President and a lot of presidents dropped the ball that Carter passed them . If Carter had been listened to and energy was conserved we would not have half the problems we face today. I doubt even Iraq might not have happened..who knows. What I do know is, Carter was correct in his assumptions.

I guess he can thank Reagan, Bush, Clinton, and Bush for the poor mileage of his Suburban.

Yes, they put the brakes on federal mandates for fleet gas mileage. Carter took the fleet mileage from 18 to 27 in 7 years. Reagan rescinded the order and mpg has stayed at 27 for the last 20+ years.

It made us vulnerable again to foreign energy providers. It damaged national security.

Because forcing federal mandates on a free capitalist society is what marxism is all about.

No...it is called protecting you from yourself. It appears the public has no respect for where the gas/oil iscoming from and the world is being sucked dry. Someone was to control the bing.
