Don't rejoice yet the environmentalists are filing lawsuits as I type. They say all those acres of solar panels in the desert will harm the environment of the desert.

Is there more of the "windmills off the coast of Nantucket" NIMBY thing going on here, Wolf?

No, they, the environmentalists, actually have a good point on this one the acres of solar panels needed to produce any appreciable amount of energy would necessarily disturb the habituate of all of desert species in the area. Consider what covering an area with these panels fifty miles wide and a hundred miles long would do to the flora and fauna we aren't talking about an oil pipeline here.

Where'd you get this tidbit, Wolfie? Not being facetious, I really am interested.

My understanding is the environmental concerns over large solar farms in the desert have to do with their water consumption. Many, but not all, solar arrays use quite a bit of water for cooling purposes and ANY extra water consumption in certain areas is cause for concern.

And the effects of your proposed solution (be it more drilling?)?
