What intrigues me is how do they date this. Radio active methods are not accurate going back more than 10,000 years. In fact they reported a live animal was 20,000 years old and the front of a mammoth was 50,000 years different from the back end.

C-14 doesn't work for sea animals or animals that usually eat sea animals. Because they don't obtain their C-14 from the air. Radiometric datings are quite accurate, as has been proved by comparing different dating methods. BTW if that's the Hovind claim I think it is, it's just pure lie or stupidty on Hovind's side, if it's not one of his claims, I'd like to hear more about it.

Radiocarbon dating can be accurate up to 60,000 years, depending on the nature of the sample. I suspect this carving was dated based on position in the strata and perhaps other objects found nearby.

Such anomalies occur when there has been contamination of the sample. Much ballyhoo is made over such 'errors' by Young Earth Creationists. While I would like to see a link to this half-and-half mammoth of which you speak, I suspect one half of the mammoth was likely contaminated with more modern bacteria, perhaps during the partial thaw of the carcass. Certain live animals can be tested at extreme ages. Most commonly, these are mollusks that draw their calcium from old sea floor deposits. The materials carry residual carbon and can make the shell, at least, appear very very old.
