Posted By Radiofreeeuropa 7 months, 2 weeks ago in Political NewsIf you thought Rush Limbaugh was bad, try Michael Savage, the talk-radio host whose racist, homophobic psychobabble isn't just fueling the car stereos of eight million Americans. It's fueling the priorities of the GOP.

i would think it's hard to be such an extreme voice and NOT expect to find people who are willing to exclude you from their polity. michael, ahem, savage is deluding himself.
Reply
besides, britain is britain; they don't owe anyone any explanations regarding why they should deny entry to anyone to their country.-

Well why don't you start by asking yourselves how anything Michael Savage says is hate, and then someone like Reverend Wright can come out and say "White people started aids to kill all black people" and not a single Liberal says a thing about that.
Reply
How is Wright not banned? Because he is part of the Liberal voice and Savage is not. Savage isn't part of the Liberal Agenda so they banned him. What does that say? Well first off this show the TRUE Fascism that Liberals cried about when Bush was president. Did Bush ever ban a Liberal from coming to America? No. Because Bush was at least smart enough to know what free speech is.
And still we have the Liberals, the so called protector's of human rights and freedoms, actually sitting here on this website AGREEING that someone should be banned because of their political Views. THat is exactly what Fascism is. And that is also what makes it so scary.
Liberals are now agreeing that our first amendment right should not apply to you if you are a not a LIBERAL. Anyone who thinks Savage should be banned is not a true American because they don't hold our first amendment to include free speech FOR EVERYONE.
Please show me the hate for Savage. Show me where he says people should be killed. Show us some Quotes.-

Dude, we're talking about ENGLAND, not the US. England has NO First Amendment. Savage is denied entry into ENGLAND.

Personally, here in American I'll defend to the death his right to spew whatever garbage he wants on his show. And I'll exercise my right not to listen. -

I think the bigot Obama and his propaganda machine should be exposed for being liars, crooks and cheats. Listen to Rush for the truth. Chris Matthews and Oberman are liars and democrat puppets. Pelosi and Reid are herting this country with the help of the corrupt media.

"So Dick Cheney says that Obama is putting American lives at risk by closing Guantanamo and stopping torture. Good Lord! Isn't this the man who invaded Iraq on bad intelligence without an occupation plan, resulting in the death of thousands of Americans?"
Reply
"He also said that we should torture because it works. That argument is shocking enough coming from the Savages and Limbaughs of the world. But it's utterly appalling coming from a United States Vice President."
That's like saying it's alright to beat and torture criminals because it works in getting confessions. Where has Cheney's values gone?-

Aside from any shred of moral implication.
Reply
Torture is illegal.
What if Cheney confessed to murdering someone but he thought he had a good reason?
Murder is still not legal.
Nor is Torture.
I assure you American soldiers risk and sometimes lose their lives believing they are defending freedom from such things...not their implementation.

Sadly the targeted audience is the dim and dumbest. Easily whipped up into a frenzy sans logic.
Reply
No need for analysis, fallacy sounds good enough for these folks.
Freedom of speech by it's nature includes liars and hucksters, sadly when given an amplifier such as a radio show America's intellectually bankrupt and morally empty rush to embarrass themselves, marching to the lemming drums of hate, idiocy and bigotry.

You're right about this. During the Depression Father Coughlin preached his inane Anti-Semitic filth on the airwaves. Originally a supporter of FDR and the New Deal, he became a mouthpiece for Fascism and Nazism and blamed the Jews as both Communists and the international Bankers who caused the Depression. That anyone believed him is a testament to ignorance.

Many of the current day radio "talk show" hosts can trace their lineage back to this POS.

this headline can also read:
"Jewish Hero"
"If you thought Lieberman was bad, try THIS JEW, the talk-radio host whose racist, homophobic psychobabble isn't just fueling the car stereos of eight million Americans. It's fueling the priorities of the Jews around the world."
which then, can be used to assault all Jewish people.-

Good point. Mr. Weiner is a bigot, that is not hard to pick up on. Is he indeed a "hero" of the republicans? Questionable. I would suspect that, while some republicans like him, many other republicans consider him to be a raging a-hole.
Reply
Does anyone have clear evidence that this human hershey-squirt is a "hero" to any group republican or otherwise? Lets hear it.

Slate, that would be a fine point, except that if you were to have a thread bashing say...Jefferson from La. for having a refrigerator full of cash...well I might be more inclined to join you than defend Jefferson. I would hope any of us despite political leanings would want to exorcise the demons from their camp. I care far more for the future of the nation, and the world than any political party, I suspect you do too..

Michael "Savage" Weiner is on the lunatic fringe! Why anyone would listen to that garbage is beyond me. He has found an audience among the most ignorant bigots among us. He almost makes Rush Limbaugh appear mainstream....and that's pretty scary!

because i need to cut this up for you and feed it to you in smaller chunks.

i am pointing to the fact that people call savage a stereotyping bigot, but don't see that they are stereotyping and are very much bigoted.
just because one jew does one thing, doesn't mean all jews are bad.
just because this conservative does another thing, doesn't mean all conservatives are bad.
by substituting in the word conservative with jew, then it becomes so obviously bigoted, that the stereotype is simply unbearable.-

I understand what you are saying....and for the record, I view you as one of the more reasonable conservative - or dare I say, libertarian - voices here on these threads. But in my opinion, Savage does nothing but inflame the most ignorant among us....

And I hope you also understand that I do try not to "drive-by neg" on here and I will always try to prop comments from others with whom I might not agree on every issue....-

Thanks for saying so. I don't like savage either.

But I've noticed that about you. That, in contrast to many people here, you actually do rank your comments objectively. Which is probably why I am partially offended when reasonable liberals neg my comments for rocking the boat. (Don't rock the boat, they say to me.) So, thanks.-

I would second Scott's words and there would be no point to reading or commenting on any thread without actual discussion (other points of view).

Generally Kudo's to both tadair and slate, who do actually contribute often thoughtful or humorous comments to these discussions, that stands in sharp contrast to some others, who simply can't seem to use logic to state their positions.

Tadair, you have a good point about using this fellow as a punching bag. But I beg to differ on suggesting "if we substitute" this word or that word for his name then.....
Reply
That seems like fallacy. Blowing off steam about someone who has in fact made bigoted comments and lamenting that fact is difficult to cage as an act of bigotry itself. I don't believe for a second this man speaks for conservatives in general, at least I hope not.-

Actually I don't believe that most of the current crop of mouthpieces for the GOP paraded about in media speak for conservatives. Conservatives are for conserving something, whether it is capital, traditions, resources...they are for acting conservatively...
Reply
That certainly can not be seen in the record of Mr. Cheney, nor in the rhetoric generally coming from the party leaders.Especially not from whatever type of politics it is espoused by Savage, Rush, or Joe the not a plumber, I am not against conservatism, and there must be watchdogs to ensure good honest policy is made, so frankly I support anyone who can articulate a sane position for conservative ideas based on actual constitutional points, civil liberties, smaller government etc.
The Democrats do tend to believe in Federal Government, and at least traditionally Republicans believe in state powers. The truth is the founders saw the need for both...perhaps hoping with so many players involved one of them might be able to read.-

On a personal level I believe he is a very admirable man. I embrace much of the libertarian stance myself and have worked on behalf of some libertarian candidates. In terms of civil rights and personal freedom they are dead right. In terms of actually implementing a federal government that was capable of functioning for any purpose I don't think their model is compatible with reality.
Reply
I for instance believe (republican, by the way)Teddy Roosevelt was dead right to set aside National Parks, I support NASA generally, I shudder to think what would happen to this nation without public education...all things that libertarians generally and Ron Paul on his website as presidential candidate sought to dismantle. So it's a tough call, I like him as a man, I'm glad he's there, I'm glad he puts forth good ideas in many areas (foreign relations for one) but I don't really believe in a weak impotent central government either, more of a balanced one that serves the common interests of the citizens.-

Yes. By constant repetition of calling them "conservative mouthpieces" and "conservative leaders," then it is not long before we believe it.-

You are right, they are not conservative leaders...though they do seem to have captured the leadership of the republican party...as evidenced in Mr. Steele's backing down to Mr. Limbaugh. I'm not sure what to call the political brand espoused by these folks, though it is not conservatism that I can recognize, and what comes to mind seems overused....

My Fellow Americans: Savage and Limbaugh are Patriots. They do tell the truth, explain just what exactly is happening, give honest sensible answers to our problems, and only want the best for the Citizens of the Country. If some of you loud mouth Liberals would listen once in awhile and try to analyze our over all situation you might agree with the most Conservative foundation that established our Great Country. But here it comes, it was Bushs fault, Limbaugh did this, Savage did that, blah, blah, blah. What has happen has happen let's concentrate on how to fix our present collapsing situation because of our Present Nit Wit Leaders. Now, for some real news, Our obligation to the Law Abiding Americans is to Protect Them. So, as for Criminals who are in business to hurt them our job one is to execute them by the most crucial punishment we can find. I suggest going back to public hangings, firing squads are also a good way, legal injections seems a bit too humane for my taste. Why? Because they are Criminals, they steal your money, (Frank, Dodd, Obama), murder your family members, rape your women, and molest your children. They don't deserve to live in our Society. You say, makes me just like them, that's right an eye for an eye. Illegal Aliens now, send them back and if they return it's the same tactic, Execution? Why? Because they have contributed nothing to or for this Country. The live off the hard work produced by our honest tax paying citizens. They could have made their countries great because we were able to make ours great so they should have been able to make their countries great. They're basically low lifes, mooches, leaches, parasites, and good for nothings. They con their way into our lives and don't even try to give back. They don't pay taxes, they send their money out of this country, and commit all sorts of criminal activity. Bleeding heart Liberals treat them better than their own Family Members. Send them both back. About Welfare mooches, Baby Factories, producing children just to get more money and benefits. Put them to work, cut them out of the free money roles, let them live in the street for awhile. No more food Stamps. Time to get tough you're either an American or you're not an American. True Americans never ask for hand outs because they have too much dignity. They just hand out and it has to stop if we want this Country to again be the Best. Finally Terrorist, We owe them nothing but the most severe torture we can come up with and the Proof is in memories of 9/11. The Real American

My Fellow Anti American: You're stupid Psychotic Icon tells your whole story. This new way of thinking about not punishing the Psychos that are destroying the essence of our country is stupid. By disagreeing with my statement just tells me you're one of them and should be judged as such. There is nothing wrong with justice and self defense. In this new society it is Kill or Be Killed. Immediately your response is eugenics, firing squads, and public hangings and not one word about the damage the criminals I propose these techniques should be used for. I assume your like this breed of inhumanity, well may they sleep in your bed when the your final curtain comes down. How bizarre a photo of yourself, RadiofreeOpra. The Real American

I don't feel bad for Savage being banned From Britain, I feel sad for Britain. This country has more pitiful trash,of every ethnic group of every color and yet you are free to trash any,and everyone you see, hear, or hear about.I would imagine many of you on proppler would find me fairly radical.I raised my children in my home, under my rules,I couldn't find a village suitable for task.I made all my mortgage payments,Oh Before I forget I'm A proud Korean veteran all the screaming, and kicking, and foaming at the mouth will not change that.I am also a staunch republican, have been for fifty nine of my seventy five years. When I get to a point where I want to straddle a fence,I'll just ride into the sunset.
