Transporters would be a mixed blessing. Imagine you're sitting in your home watching TV or listening to music and someone just pops up in your living room unannounced. Security would no longer exist. Locked doors would be meaningless.

what's more, I imagine they would be expensive. we would probably have public transport pads.... actually that idea is copy-written for an upcoming movie by yours truly.
