    Transporters would be a mixed blessing. Imagine you're sitting in your home watching TV or listening to music and someone just pops up in your living room unannounced. Security would no longer exist. Locked doors would be meaningless.

      wouldn't each transported pad have an address that someone would need to know?

      what's more, I imagine they would be expensive. we would probably have public transport pads.... actually that idea is copy-written for an upcoming movie by yours truly.

        Truthfully, we just don't know how such an advance would play out. It might be as simple as Google Earth coordinates. However, I suspect that there would be transport field blockers. Now, in addition to moving people, I would have a mini transporter on my desk so a beer would materialize there along with plate of nachos.
