"Domestic violence occurs in all age groups. It can be physical or mental in nature. Sexual assault such as rape is well documented. Economic violence also happens commonly. Depriving a person of food, shelter, clothing, water or money that is needed to survive is neglect and a form of abuse. Emotional mistreatment is another form of cruelty. Psychological abuse through word, threat or an implied act is just as serious as physical violence itself. Domestic violence may have associations with chronic health problems. These areas need to be studied and clarified. Certainly, it is related to some dangerous health behaviors."
As the economy has gotten worse I have seen couples split up over: the loss of the home, the loss of income, the inability to maintain their lavish lifestyle...
I know there is abuse occurring, I can see it daily where I live. I hear couples fighting, things being broken, I see people moving out and a pile of personal stuff left behind.
Broken televisions, torn up clothes, childrens toys...
Materialism doesn't work. There is violence and anger when one doesn't receive what one feels they have earned. -

What you have stated is "right-on-target" (with one minor exception) and occurs due to people allowing their possessions TO OWN THEM, not the other way around. They fail to realize that their FAMILY is THE MOST VALUABLE possession.
I find it akin to, "The LOVE of MONEY is the ROOT of all EVIL." MONEY is merely a TOOL, and when one allows it to become more than what it is, problems start.
The exception I mentioned, to what you quoted, is the part equating verbal abuse with physical abuse. I believe it depends on the receipient of the "verbal abuse", as I would rather have someone use their "verbal barbs" than actually strike me. On the other hand, when it comes to one's children, it would depend on how strong the child is mentally. When I was a child a scolding or harsh words didn't bother me all that much; at least not as MUCH as a SPANKING with a BELT. "Sticks and stones...", and all that. From my observations, my older sister seemed to react just the same to BOTH. -

True, and there are many more men in this country who are being brutalized by a one sided court system and raped by attorneys. It is sad. It is a shame.

Domestic violence is not always a "man" thing, but the common assumption is that it is.
There is another kind of brutal behavior afoot in this country, and it carries deep wounds. For the few years there has been a trend, a lot of females in their late 40s to early 50s seem to be going haywire, leaving their husbands, children to go out and party and spend everything the partnership worked hard for over a couple of decades. They clean out the retirement account and leave and the taxes and penalties for such actions to the husbands. They leave the children, usually teens to bewildered men who do not know what to do as their worlds crash around them. There is a new trend taking place.
Every sword has two sides. It is a shame that people who trust each other explicitly, who build lives and families together, can come to such a fate.
The stories are definitely two-sided.
There is never an excuse for physical violence though, male or female.

Any man or any women who hit on each other need to just hang it up and walk away from the relationship. The kids suffer the most or they end up beating their husband, wife, kids, pets or whoever down the road. Hit once, they will hit again. In ohio I know someone who has 5 domestic complaints against him. The first time it should have been up to the wife to continue the prosecution. The SECOND time he should have gone straight to jail!!!!!!!!!!!how can anyone feel safe with crap like this going on.

I was looking at interactive crime maps the other night, and I was amazed at the number of domestic abuse reports in a particular city I was looking at.

You hear the numbers, or hear the estimates, but actually seeing it mapped out- street by street, house by house was quite powerful.
For the last few months I have been doing presentations at Jr. High schools on abuse prevention; the number of kids struggling with abuse and neglect in their homes is staggering. -

Too often for female victims, they have seen mom put up with domestic violence as a child, or they have been victims of sexual abuse. Either way, they are taught that females are not to be respected. Blaming the women who don't leave isn't going to help as these women often get their self esteem beaten down so low, they don't believe they can leave.

Depression is rising fast..suicide rates in women have doubled!

Teen cutting and self harm are at record levels worldwide among teen girls. Women have been mistreated..dishonored and are in many ways depressed by a society that has not respected them. We report on the growing depression and self harm rate everyday and how to take back the power.

My Fellow Americans: How could I let this go by. Wikimap puts out another scare tactic and everyone falls in line. Suddenly normal behavior over the years have become a Pandemic. People have argued through out time and yes blows have been struck but I would not say disagreements are becoming a Pandemic Disaster. Of Course CowboyGrandpa suddenly knows a bunch of people get their lights put out, and Pecossam agrees with his every word. Yeh, jumping on the bandwagon is right in style. Actually the most logical response is CactusAnnie who can see both sides to this story but to call it a Pandemic is ridiculous. Consider if you will one of the reasons you notice all this supposed Pandemic violence is the fact we have a lower intellectual group of people that have moved, (invaded actually), into our country. Yes, that's right, Spanish invaders and they are a highly aggressive and violent breed of people. You see it on the news all the time, killing members of their families, robbing and pillaging stores and neighborhoods, gang warfare, domestic violence is their thing. Yet, we now notice the escalation of this type of behavior. It invaded our country. We very rarely had this type of violence to contend with before. Our lovely little children are mating with these animals, cultures are so different it frustrates one another causing aggressive outburst. Yet, you haven't seen this before and because Wikimap thinks this is unusual maybe Wikimap should live in a real Pandemic environment like Mexico, Columbia, Argentina, Brazil in other words South America. Why don't we all just live in a Cocoon too stay away from all this violence. Better yet why don't we eliminate this behavior by enforcing the laws on the books. Criminal acts beget criminal justice. Now, the civilized culture that was originally here in America is the ones who will actually be punished for shouting at their children or whacking their child on the butt for misbehaving while the South American Terrorist pillage and destroy the humane culture we have developed and cherished from day one. The Real American
