I see "animal testing" as a blessing and a curse. It has definitely advanced medical research which have been beneficial to man. But it is also a curse because we are subjecting living beings, against their will, all types of experimental treatment that is morally and ethically repugnant.

The progression of a person compromising his or her ethics or morality by assuring themselves it's for the betterment of mankind, while in essence, torturing animals, is a dilemma.-

There was a televised town meeting held in Seattle years ago about that topic. Both sides had their doctors. The stop animal testing side's doctors stated that animal testing now is setting research back because what's good for a rabbit is not good or bad for a person.

I agree with Charlson as to medical testing. The horror that is not such a dilemma is the animal mutilations and testing for other products, including pet food.

We can stop animal testing rather soon. When Obama pushes his national health plan, there will be greatly reduced capital for any medial research. By pushing caps on the doctors, hospitals and drug companies, the left is ending a lot of research in Aids, cancer, heart diseases, Autism, dementia, arthritis, and the rest. We will be entering a dark period for research. Universities will also see huge drops in grant money too. So, yes. Animal testing will come to an end.

We look at two sides of a river and we must approach this in that fashion...we must clean our invironment and find a suitable place for all upon Earth to begin their genesis in Life...or we see what the effectuals will be from the distortion of a chaos created from the causals.

Use humans that have no other value to society. Pull them out of prisons and use them for organ transplants, medical research, etc. instead of keeping killers alive for years on our tax money. As for human rights? When you kill another, you give up your rights.

I will step into the lion's den and simply say that animal rights advocates need to get a life. Animals are not human and will never be. They have no constitutional rights of free speech, and don't have voting rights. They are animals.

While there may indeed be a few abuses during medical testing, would Western medicine be where it is today without such testing?

Living beings ... animals??? I don't think so. They are living creatures deserving to be treated with humanity.
There is no delemma other than the one you seem hell-bent on creating. I compromise neither my ethics or morality when I say animal testing is not torturing. It is using the lesser of many choices ... none which seem to advocate the use of human volunteer subjects. Is there a delemma proposing using humans that are, for whatever reason, in prison? Is there such a delemma or challenge of ethics recruiting healthy humaniods for drug experiments? -

How difficult is it for human beings to determine that torturing other living beings, and creating suffering and agony in innocent creatures, is WRONG?

When will human beings rise from the most primitive muck of impulses, and self-serving delusion (i.e, believing that other living beings must be tortured to advance human interests..), and aspire to become intelligent, compassionate, and worthy life forms?

"Ask the experimenters why they experiment on animals, and the answer is: "Because the animals are like us." Ask the experimenters why it is morally okay to experiment on animals, and the answer is: "Because the animals are not like us." Animal experimentation rests on a logical contradiction." ~Charles R. Magel

Vivisection is a social evil because if it advances human knowledge, it does so at the expense of human character. ~George Bernard Shaw -

how ridiculous this is even a debate!! were not more importent then other lives thank you. If WE want better products then we shout be the ones tested on, simple as that! The animals dont deserve to be tortured and in fact it should be a crime to test on them! We say our animals are part of our family and yet turn our backs to the cruelty these souls suffer. If we want it we need to do the discovering and the testing. Human being ARE NOT more importent then any other creature!!
