if the difference between now and tomorrow is the position of the earth to the sun, and all the other objects in space to each other as well. then in order to travel through time, one of two things must be happening:

    1) you have moved all of the objects in the universe back to where they were at the other time in order to recreate that time.

    or

    2) all of time exists all of the time. in other words, each moments is a physical place in space/time and the traveller is moving between them. which begs the questions, if I perceive the change in time, what is the "I" that is travelling from one moment to the next? and who is in that other time/place?

which is why I can't get with time travel stories. I can't suspend disbelief b/c I am always dealing with the idea that it is completely impossible. yet somehow I like stories like LOR, go figure.
