CNN Poll: Obama Moving U.S. In Right Direction »
Posted By TimALoftis 7 months ago in Political NewsWASHINGTON (CNN) — As the Republican Party condemns what they call the Democrats' 'march to socialism', a new national poll indicates that most Americans believe President Barack Obama's policies would move the country in the right direction.
Sixty-three percent of people questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Wednesday say they think the policies being proposed by the President would push the nation in the right direction, with 35 percent saying those policies would send the country in the wrong direction.
But the poll suggests that Americans don't feel the same way about the Republicans. Thirty-nine percent of those questioned say that the policies of GOP Congressional leaders would move the country in the right direction, with a slight majority, 53 percent, saying Republican proposals would move the nation in the wrong direction.
"The poll indicates that some of Obama's popularity is rubbing off on congressional Democrats," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "Even though Nancy Pelosi has a low approval rating and Harry Reid is facing some low numbers in polls taken in his home state, 57 percent think that the policies of the Democratic leaders in Congress would move the country in the right direction. That's not good news for the GOP."

I believe that Americans have had enough of The Modern Right's desire to rule through fear.
Reply
As I've often said, the Bush Administration was the first true and complete Neo-Conservative administration.
Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, and Don Rumsfeld are three of the most prominent exponents of Neo-Conservativism.
Wolfowitz was a student of Professor Leo Strauss, who developed the whole notion that Americans need to have some evil to fear.
Without this fear, so the philosophy goes, Americans will never be able to be controlled - and individual rebellion will result.
This is why Neo-Cons like Rumsfeld, Cheney, Wolfowitz WANT to frame the world in terms of "Axis of Evil" and "Evil Empires" ... it's their philosophical expression on how to cow Americans, to control.
This isn't just made up stuff ... this is truly what they believe. Look up Leo Strauss - he has a page on Wikipedia.
But as I say ... the first fully Neo-Con administration gave America a taste of their vision. And that vision is a reckless, dangerous, mind-numbingingly rigid Ideology that just doesn't sit well with Normal, Family-Minded Americans.
Who wants to live a life in Fear?
Who wants to see everyone and every nation we don't agree with as being EVIL?
It's sick.
It's Morally Vacant.

Things are much better now. Obama is not afraid of anything. He's not afraid of $10 trillion deficits, spend more; 10% unemployment , nah, keep going after the private sector; there are no more terrorists, so nothing to worry about there; the Gitmo guys can come to the US, that's not a problem for anyone; N. Korea and Iran fire off missiles, virtually while he is speaking on the subject. Nothing to be concerned about there either.

The only ones who want Obama's stimulus policies to fail are those who'd lose the most if he succeeds. It's not the middle class or poor, nor most of the Democrats and Independents who will lose, it's the fat cats and the heads of corporate America and Wall Street and their GOP toadies who'd lose. They'd lose their power and the ability to enriching themselves unfairly.

everybody loses when the Gov't picks winners and losers. everybody loses when one class is chosen as the fault of all evils. by all means, lets do it though, Charlson. you seem to have your finger on teh pulse of the nation.

fat cats that had private jets, and don't now, put a lot of well paid people out of work. good job!
the economy is an aggregate of all supply and demands.
with regard to the country moving in the right direction, except for some of the social issues and this mindless bailout on bailout process, we are moving in the right direction, but a lot of the 'correctness' is thanks to the republicans pointing out the lameness of certain ideas.
take 'closing Gitom' as an example. the democrats couldn't close it fast enough. yet, when teh rubber hits the road, now, maybe its not so bad. iraq policy? under Bush, an abject failure. under Obama? a stroke of genius.
pointing it out is one thing. Obama gets credit for actually listening and chosing the better of the ideas.
(shrug) i guess i'm saying its not all bad.

Since it is only 5 months since the President took his oath of office, I'm actually emboldened by the fact that, prima facia, the American people do not endorse his policies, but endorse the man.
Reply
As each month passes, the policies President Obama implements will ultimately be linked to himself. If they succeed, he will receive the adulation he deserves, if they fail...and I do believe they will, he will be treated accountable.
This, historically, is reminiscent of the Carter administration.-

I'm not sure he will ... most people aren't even paying attention and don't know why they support him. He looks and speaks the part well on television, has a nice family, hard to dis-like the guy even if you dis-like the policies. We'll keep pointing it out, however, and responsible citizens may now understand what he is capable of and vote against him next time.

Congress will take the hit, I think and I just hope we can re-capture one side of the legislature to slow the b@stards down. Otherwise, we'll have so much debt, we will never recover. -

--We already know Obama will fail miserably---as judged by twenty percenter cons, that is. We know this because we already know cons' criteria for success are entirely partisan. We've seen how cons continue to whitewash Bush administration failures and we've seen how you'll dismiss as a resulting from left wing bias, any evidence or facts supporting Obama. You will never agree with Obama or judge him fairly and not too deep down you know this. The idea that you're going to judge him fairly and objectively based on facts is ludicrous.

Actually its your own side that continues to rely upon fear by demonizing Obama, who, if anything is a moderate and it appears that in your case it is succeeding. Republicans can't succeed anymore on policy debate. They've lost all credibility. All they can hope to do is try to undermine the Democrats. When the nation is in trouble, that is not really an effective strategy. People are already afraid. They want answers to their problems, not criticism of those who are trying to solve them without offering an alternative plan. The Republican party seems to be in denial and stuck on stupid at the moment.

You're barely literate and have an extremely poor grasp of the Constitution but you're terrified that your free speech rights will be taken away and that you won't be able to buy an unlimited amount of guns to fight off all the minorities you love to attack with your "free speech" rights. You people always seem to be "scared as hell" of something.

Yes ... I can easily see how Americans think we are headed in a better direction.
Let me clarify.
Americans who favor our present system of government surely think we're headed in a better direction.
People who live in this country ... but admire dictators such as Agusto Pinochet, Francisco Franco, or any of a variety of Military Dictatorships are in weepy mode.
.
After all, it's quite possible that Americans are once again embracing their respect for traditional American values of Honor, Justice, Liberty, and Peace ----- these are all things that supporters of Modern Republicanism abhor.
.
Of course, it didn't always use to be like that.
Once, Republicans had honor.

Obama, whatever he does, will be propped up by the media who supported him in the electon; and most did. The election period was nausiating for its glowing admiration for him and distaste for the other side. If he makes a poor showing the New York Times, L.A. Times, Washington Post, CNN, MSNBC and others will be exposed for their unethical journalism. That makes Obama "too big to fail." Whatever spin, rationalization or set of lies it takes to make him look successful to the American Idol class, it will be provided by committed news anchors everywhere.

Yep, especially when Palin got up on national TV
and said "Drill, Baby Drill." Her debate with Biden
left me with a sick feeling in my stomach and my ears
couldn't stand her shrill voice. I don't even like Biden very much, but he did make Palin appear to be an incompetent fool during their debate. The Republicans only have themselves to blame for selecting a Presidential Candidate who had, for the most part, aligned himself with Bush's failed policies since the past 8 yrs. And a VP Candidate who said she could see Alaska from her home, and that gave her foreign policy experience. I am sure Putin was laughing his head of, as were people in the rest of the world.
The media is not to blame here. But...you need a scapegoat...-

Biden made Palin look like a fool? Biden couldn't make you look like a fool. And you don't have one original thing to say about Palin. The thing Palin did that was so bad was to succeed in showing up the Democratic candidates for the empty suits they were. She terrified the left so bad that the media had to do a hatchet job on her before she did some real damage to the Obama campeign. And you.... You like to pile on after the whistle.

My Fellow Americans: Yes, CNN poll we can all believe that especially since they are going straight down the tubes just like the country under Obama. They probably got their 60% from a group of Illegal Aliens in front of the Welfare Offices. Maybe from the Free Food Giveaway Shelters station in every city in America these days. Were the Brown Shirts their with their guns when the polls were taking place? No sensible American thinks this Country is moving in the right direction unless they actually want it to go under as does our President and his lovely Anti-Christ-Mistress. CNN Reporters can not even report on the actual news these days but rather has to make up their own. Their fiction writers are just shoveling out the propaganda in a steady stream of useless second grade comedy. We'll see what the actual numbers are when the citizens get tired of funding these useless people and programs of the Obama administration. If we are still alive to participate. However, the ones who will be crying the loudest will be the ones getting the free handouts and participating in the Give-Away programs. You can see who those people are by reading the support Obama people in these responses. Same People, Same Responses. The Real American

It's no surprise that a CNN, NBC or a MSNBC poll would favor President Obama. As far as politics these news shows are supporters, not reporters. They use their position to influence the public instead of informing them. The show Hardball is a Softball when it comes to President Obama and a sledgehammer to anyone who dares question them or Democrats! Some will ask why I don't mention Fox and their treatment of Republicans? I will say that Fox does have enough opposing views to be not included in the above mention group. I do think that both parties are not representing us. It's time that we hold them accountable and the only way to do this is at the ballot box and letters to your representatives. This is my take on it and some will disagree and this is what makes America great! It makes it weaker when a healthy debate turns to anger, hate and name calling. Being disrespectful cannot be covered up by I was just telling the truth! God Bless America!

No wonder 'CNN POLLS ACCLAIM APPROVAL OF THE MORON PRESIDENT. It was the most fantastic soul seeking experience a human can have. The Kenyan Teleprompter Imposter baptizing Robert Gates with the name of William, was it in Jordan, where the Angel gave the water to Ishmael. My eyes water with emotion to see his hyena face, his purple lips twitching and his expression of hate. Obanus you dont have the beat, you are a Mau Mau and that is why you jump. This tribe was so lazy, bloody and stupid (savages) they were never used as slaves. You wish you had the grace and rythm of a TRUE BLACK AFRICAN AMERICAN. But Obanus you DONT HAVE THE BEAT.
