The US dollar is not Russia’s basic reserve currency anymore. The euro -based share of reserve assets of Russia’s Central Bank increased to the level of 47.5 percent as of January 1, 2009 and exceeded the investments in dollar assets, which made up 41.5 percent, The Vedomosti newspaper wrote.

I would bet that this is a strategic move to attempt to weaken the US's international standing - they are hoping that other countries will follow suit. Until our allies start jumping ship on the dollar I think Russia can do what it wants.

We have played into the hands of our enemies. We owe so much money our currency isn't worth anything anymore. We didn't learn from watching the Soviet Union fall after they spent themselves into oblivion with wars and military expansion.

This country is being ruined by Obama and the democrats in every way. Brazil and China do not want the dollar anymore and now Russia. What are the democrats thinking? trillions of dollars in debt that we can never pay back. Its not just stimulas, its democrat corruption looting the country. Unemployment at almost 10% and climbing. Democrats attacking businesses and corporation forcing them offshore is not good for the economy or the job picture. What is really going to put the nail in the coffin of our economy is the democrats tax on energy that will effect everyone and everything. The Obama energy policy is stupid and destructive. Its just plain crazy. No nuclear power for us but Obama says its ok for DUBI, how crazy is that. These democrats are killing our country and or prosperity. Obama's banana republic is what we are turning into. What a mess.
