I disagree that only 1 in 73 people are affected. Many people are suffering with this illness, but haven't been officially diagnosed yet. I've known I have Fibro for several years, but only now am finally getting that diagnosis from a Rheumatologist.

I have my own theory as to why women get Fibro more than men, and it would explain what causes it. It's from toxins damaging our cells. People who have a parasympathetic dominate nervous system have weaker cell membranes, which allows for toxins to enter the cells more easily. Unlike those with a sympathetic dominate nervous system, their cell membranes are stronger and it is harder for toxins to invade their cells. More women than men have parasympathetic nervous systems. One sign of that is if you have a low metabolism and easily gain weight.

I have to take opiods daily, but I try not to take more than 1 or 2 pills a day. Anyone who feels people shouldn't take opiods, can come live in my body for a few days and then restate their opinion. Best drug of all for Fibro...Marijuana. Helps relax the muscles, reduces the pain in muscles and joints.

I broke my leg and suffer the symptoms...it's similar to Sleep deprivation

The condition of being deprived of sleep either under experimental or under unusual real life conditions, as distinguished from being unable to sleep. The effects of sleep derprivation lead to impaired hearing, sight, brain function, mental alertness, as well as physical ability, meaning slow reflexes and clumsiness. sleep deprivation is bad for health, leaving one prone to get sick. periods of sleep deprivation of a few weeks leads to death in lab animals.

I was diagnosed as having fibromyalgia about 12 years ago. Over the years I have done quite a bit of research on it, as 12 years ago there was very little information out there about the disease, and it wasn't even recognized as being a legitimate disease by many doctors at the time. Anyone who needs help or advice about their fibro may look me up, and I'd be happy to help. lisakalen777@aol.com

Treatments on this are really, really temporary on me. Sucks to have fibro at 17. Ruined my junior and my senior year. I go to physical therapy- genius man, but still, only thing you can do is hope you have good days more than you have bad. Truely, I think my case is Lyme, but doctors are anti-diagnosising that disease.
