Go Colin Powell! Now Muzzle Limbaugh and Cheney -- Politics Daily »
Posted By TimALoftis 5 months, 4 weeks ago in Political NewsGo get 'em, General Powell.
After months of ignoring Rush Limbaugh's attacks stating that he should leave the Republican party, Powell finally responded yesterday in a speech in Boston:"Rush Limbaugh says 'get him out of the Republican Party' and Dick Cheney says 'he's already out,' " Powell said, according to the The Boston Herald. "I may be out of their version of the Republican Party, but there's another version of the Republican Party getting ready to emerge again."
Powell had previously disregarded insulting comments by Cheney, who claimed Limbaugh is better for the GOP than Powell.
As I have written before, Cheney's claim that Rush Limbaugh and his 19 percent approval rating is better for Republicans than Colin Powell and his 79 percent approval rating is misguided at best and stupid at worst.
We are already at an all-time low of 21 percent of Americans identifying themselves as Republicans. We need to get MORE people to the party, not less. Sheesh.

although I hope the Republicans NEVER gain power again...Colin Powell is a class act. I have to admit, had they run him for President in 2000 I would have voted for him in a heartbeat. He is a human being first, a soldier next, and a politician last. He gives a $hit about people which I can't say about any other of the wingnuts currently in the party. For the repubs to come back, they have to throw off their polarizing religious mantra, giveaways to the wealthiest at the expense of the rest of us, and their blind sheep following of the party platform. They need reasonable, reasoning, and thinking individuals who can form an opinion of their own without fear of being kicked out of the party! The current flock of sheep in the repug party are an insult to anyone's intelligence. Their blind support for the worst president in the history of our nation showed their true colors. THAT is why they were resoundingly defeated in the last election and will continue to be defeated until they change or entirely evaporate.

wow, that worked amazingly well. i wonder how many people fell for this. i didn't think it was possible to get people to embrace another neocon with open arms.

here's the formula, in case you missed it:
step 1: resign 5/8ths of the way through an 8-year term of tyranny.
step 2: blame it all on bad intel and apologize for not coming clean until long after we are committed to war.
step 3: after it is clear who the eventual winner will be, endorse the opposite party.
step 4: have top aid "leak" info that it was not your fault.
step 5: pretend the unpopular limbaugh endorsement over you from an even more unpopular dick cheney was not a set up -- thereby making yourself "innocent by association."
step 6: turn around and denounce both cheney and limbaugh.
step 7: accept your new title as the unofficial voice of the "Emerging Republican Party."
step 8: Give speeches appearing next to Megan McCain.
step 9: watch the flood of support come in from both "sides."
step 10: with great assistance from the media, both left and right are now convinced that this is the "new" image of the Party.
