"According to the Lynchburg News & Advance, the school decided a week ago the organization 'stood against the moral principles' held by the school and therefore could no longer be sanctioned.

Maria Childress, the staff adviser to the club, told the paper the school — which opposes abortion rights and gay marriage — had issues with the Democratic Party platform.
Childress says she was told by Mark Hine, the vice president of student affairs, that "'You can't be a Democrat and be a Christian and be a university representative.'"
Here's why "faith-based funding" should end. They cannot separate their fundamentalist religion from politics.-

The evangelicals are not alone. The "madrassa" at Yeshiva University is not much different.

And, yes, the madrassa also gets federal funding. More than Liberty University.

But, I agree with you, NONE of these institutions should be getting federal tax monies.

"(CNN) – Liberty University, the evangelical school in Virginia founded by the late Rev. Jerry Falwell...
"Childress says she was told by Mark Hine, the vice president of student affairs, that "'You can't be a Democrat and be a Christian and be a university representative.'""
In a conference call with reporters Friday, Terry McAuliffe — the former chairman of the Democratic National Committee who is running for governor of Virginia — sharply criticized the move.
The university did not return CNN's request for comment.
Man what a bag of crap.
Well I would say that one cannot be a Christian if one espouses the selfish, self righteous, hypocritical, greedy, pervasive ideals of the conservatives.
And I for one would not attend a college that does not allow for the freedom of expression as far as ones beliefs about God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit. It seems as if the conservative looney tunes are claiming that only the conservatives can be Christian. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ???
Pharisees and hypocrites !!!! That are what the conservatives remind me of. They love money and legalism !!!
Both of them warned about in the very Bible these con men claim to believe in !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shame on the scum who perform this evil deed !! Woe unto you who would add to the Bible or take away from it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!-

The horsey oldster is ranting again with stupid concepts of what a Christian is all about. What does the Bible say about homosexuality? What does the Bible say about the value of life? Do you know what the Pharisees did that made them hypocrites? Your ranting is silly because it is obvious that you don't understand what Christian values are. If a Democrat is a Christian they MUST have problems with some of the things that the far left Democrats push. Homosexual marriage, partial birth abortions, letting a survivor of an abortion just lay there and die, etc.

I guess that you think these things are OK and there is not problem when conservatives are shouted down in other Universities. Universities are supposed to be a placw where all ideas can be discussed. For you it is OK for liberal universities to shut down conservative talk but when the shoe is on the other foot you bellow and scream.

The far left Democrats moral vacancy, to take Goppys line, are a stain on the whole country. The far left of the takes most morals and throws them out the window. Then they rant about the hateful concepts of conservatives that stand for such hateful things as living a moral life according to Biblical principles. Perversions are fine and everybody can do what ever they want. Look at most of the Universities. If a conservative has a speaking engagement there they are many times souted down and not allowed to talk. Then the lamebrains here say nothing but when a conservative university restricts things it is horrid.

Neither would I. I know there must be some sort of anti-discrimination laws out there that would prevent me from it but I could always run with the whole "their degree is worth less than mine because the classes they took don't equate with classes at other colleges." After all, I remember reading something to the effect of them modifying their math books and teaching revisionist history. I could say because this person has not heard the real history of the US or studied real math that their degree is invalid and therefore I refuse to hire them.

Or I could just find an equally qualified applicant and pick them instead without giving any reason. I mean why should I be obligated to give a reason why I choose one hire over another if they're equally qualified. -

I have a cousin who is a Liberty grad and a home ec teacher, and she clearly learned the functional aspects of home ec and teaching at a very high level, and is a very popular public school teacher. But she doesn't proselytize to her students, which I think is the key. She just grew up in that environment and never learned to question it. I would have no problem hiring her.

Another cousin attended a state university and is one of those who endlessly rants against liberals. He would probably even do it in a job interview, from what I've seen!
So I guess I'd look at the person, irrespective of where they attended college. That being said, I would attempt to pull in a variety of people rather than stacking an organization with strong ideologues.

GLee, I think a main point of higher education is being exposed to a variety of ideas. Otherwise it's not really higher education, but indoctrination. I am troubled that basic constitutional rights like freedom of speech and to peacefully assemble are not honored at that level. These are adults--not children.
