President Obama's Green Revolution: Will It Save 1.8 Billion Gallons of Oil Imports? »

Posted By WikiMap 6 months, 2 weeks ago in News

The fight for the conservation of natural resources is as old as the presidency of Theodore Roosevelt. However the push for conservation and more environmentally friendly ways to work and live languished with further industrialization and the desire to make profits rather than consider the harm manufacturing has done to the United States environment and national security.

The biggest problem with Obama's "green revolution" is jobs. Most of the jobs created are temporary but of every three jobs lost in the present energy sector, these are well paying jobs too, only 1 1/2 permanent jobs will be created and at lower salary rates. Nope, it doesn't look saving 1.8 million barrels of imported oil will create good high paying jobs in the US but oil will get cheaper.

Look out the window for flying pigs, wolfie, but I've got to agree with you, at least sort of.

Waste and overconsumption are the heroin that keeps the junkie which is our economy on its feet.

At the heart of any meaningful green movement lies the elimination of waste and overconsumption.

From that perspective, a real green movement must be at loggerheads with the present economy.

But you must admit as well that an economy which flourishes in waste and war and suffers when people find ways to do reduce consumption and live simply is ultimately the road to ruin.

Rather than devaluing green efforts, perhaps it is time to rethink our economy.

It's refreshing to see an American president taking the lead in green initiatives. In the Bush years, it was awful to see a World leading nation, like the USA,opt out of Kyoto and continuously question the obvious. Then he was the political face of big oil.
However, The USA and the rest of the World, are going to have to reach some tough decisions in the next multilateral, post Kyoto agreement. It's laudable for individual nations to bring in initiatives, but this is a global problem.Climate change and pollution don't recognize borders, Still it's excellent news and shows the value of progressive governance.

This reads more like an official press release.
Can I point out when dealing with a non renewable resource there is no such thing as a permanent job, when the resource runs out so does the job. Plus how many of the new jobs are only in research.

My answer is no...we must first quit exporting, then and only then imports be seen as essential. Plus...there are many other things that result from the make of the electricity to produce the items within the borders of the US...from paper to paper clips. Most are fossil fuels...( steam plants to the ones that use rods to produce heat...all require mining or heavy equipment...that too require fossil fuels.
The areas Oboma is missing is like the use of licenses that are not necessary in government...plus government has built a wall completely around itself, in the form of tarrifs and taxes that are not required. Examples are they are paid by the benefit of tax, yet they tax themselves again. Then they use a supply and demand economy that only requires an audit and an invoice...nothing else...I personally could take government to a point that they saved so much we would all be zillionares. But honestly...I would share the details with you...but refuse to help them...they are the ones that do not warrant attention...they return every one rewards, or medals, and they still live in their mansions...have large estates...not us...we pay for public parks...and they charge us for the use...terrible how too they refuse to agree...paper is really not that necessary...except for proof. Neither is a signature...or they forget I personally sign electronically for prescriptions at the VA...and that's good enough...A federal card was proposed not long ago for citizens to use accross the Nation, and for the same thing. Cost costs...in fossil fuels in the long run...and congress could meet from the spaces of their own homes...and Washington (the White House)could be a museum. Amusing too...
Cut the price of everything in half...then remove half of the money in supply...that stops half the cotton from being used...then we have garments that we need, etc. Inflation has never been delt with in an intelligent manner.

My Fellow Americans: I say use as much oil as you want. Drill everywhere New York, California, Utah, Bumble Bee Arizona. Let's enjoy our lives for a change. I'm tired of hearing our President Promised it will save 1.8 Billion Dollars. Coffee Money to him and his cronies. Promise, Sacrifice, Change that's it my friends all hype and no action. I don't desire to Sacrifice, I don't want any of his phony Promises, I certainly don't care for his idea of Change. Cancel the EPA Department, Eliminate every single stupid Green Program. Go back to teaching the Children in our Schools how to Read and Write. Forget about Sex Education, Communist Indoctrination, or Saving the Planet. Just leave saving the Planet up to God and yes, get God back into our lives. It's Creationism not Evolution. It's Gas Engines not Electric Battery Problems, It's Meat and Potatoes not Tofoooooo. It's American not Communism. The Real American

My Fellow American Impersonators: Man you people are dumber than I thought. I am talking about you Liberals like Sageparadox. In other words who cares if it's oil or dollars it is just talk. It is always just talk. Everything he says is just talk. Save oil, save money, save the planet. It is just talk. He don't care about saving oil, (view his Jet trips, his Limos, his Wednesday Parties), it's us who have to save. Did I start off talking about oil or not, oil equates to dollars, to saving. Harm manufacturing did to the United States is Simply Stupid. Manufacturing made us the Number One Power in the World. Hurt our Environment? Look what bringing in Illegal Aliens did to our Environment. Rubbish in the Streets, Painted, Buildings, Drugs being sold on every Corner, while the Clean Wholesome America Fades Away. You people dwell on Oil. It Transformed the Entire World. You Morons just keep dwelling on the same mindless topics. Sageparadox even sounds Imbecilic. Grow up, get a life, say something positive for a change. So I made one mistake, I was in a hurry, bid deal. Let's be a little more petty. The Real American
