In 2001 -2001, I took a big hit on the internet bubble. I decided at that point that I would only invest in energy companies and utilities with the rational that in the event of financial Armageddon, we would still need gas and electricity the next day.

In spite of the hit in the market, I am still on the positive side with some improvement here in the last few weeks. The larger energy companies provide good dividends that seem to be relatively secure.
Four of my stocks are Canadian and have done pretty well. I will stay with them.
I believe this is a very conservative approach and would recommend it to others ...
