Too much milk on the open market will deflate prices even further to the point that it would be more profitable to dump the milk than sell it. The middlemen in the process are a large part of the problem. They store, pasteurize and homogenize the milk before bottling it and sending it to stores. Therein is a considerable expense. The entire market needs to be put on a more even keel.
