Blackwell was definitely in the right place at the right time but he doesn't exactly exude any colourful mischief, does he?
I remember "My Boy Lollipop" pretty well - I somehow became entangled with a very sweet young West Indian lady in London who was popularly known by that name but she had certain other surprising ties in her life..
But Millie Small WAS terrific and if she WASN'T enjoying herself she was the best faker in creation!:
