Israel Warns Gazans Will Be Shot if They Come Close to Border Fence »

Posted By dissent 5 months, 2 weeks ago in News

Israeli aircrafts dropped exploding boxes full of leaflets across the Gaza Strip today, littering the tiny enclave with threats to shoot any Gazans who come within 300 meters of the border fence. The exploding boxes themselves caused a casualty, injuring a 12 year old in eastern Gaza City. The boxes also damaged several homes across the area.

The Israeli military has shot multiple Gaza civilians since the end of its invasion of the strip, including several farmers whose fields were close to the border. The warning is raising concern that civilians will be in greater danger in upcoming days.

In the densely populated strip, many residents live less than 300 meters from the border fence.

palestinians who come within 300 meters of the border fence will be shot. this must be the justification israel will now use for the numerous shootings of palestinians by israeli border patrols since the end of the gaza massacre. several of these shootings have been caught on video and are now posted on youtube.

the difficulty is however that many palestinians actually LIVE within 300 meters of the border fence. which means they run the risk of sniper fire every time they leave home or come back home, although for many, that is already part of an average day

"This is a total denial of the rights of the people of Palestine. This is an open-air prison. People can't travel out of here, they can't travel in."

    Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams

and now they get shot if they're too close to the prison fence

For two weeks the cable news has been chockfull of human
interest stories and pleas for assistance for the 1.5 to
2 million refugees in the SWAT Valley. A story that should
be seen - I agree. But what happened to any coverage of the 2.5 million GAZA refugees - displaced - malnurished?
    I read - ONLINE - that they are 10 to a tent with 100
to a toilet facility. Where's Ben Wedeman - did the media
give all their experts on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict
an extended vacation? WHO - ICRC - the UN - they have ALL
had plenty to say about the situation - but tell me where
you heard it? IT IS NOT ALLOWED.
I call almost daily to leave a message at CNN that I want
to know what is going on in Gaza. Is the aid getting through?
ZIP!! Distract us media - out of sight/ out of mind works.

Recognising the lack of reciprocity involved in the original order the Israelis have given assurances to the inhabitants of Gaza that they themselves will not approach within 300 metres of the border fence on the other side.
    [Ya think?!]

That never works. Do you remember as kids whenever someone drew a line in the sand and said "don't step over that or I'll hit you." The person always picked up the sand and threw it in their eyes.

Lesson 1: the Israelis should practice charity instead. Invite them over for hot cocoa.
