FTA: "The promise came in a phone conversation with Blagojevich's brother, Robert Blagojevich, who led the campaign fund. Burris repeatedly says how much he wants to be appointed to President Barack Obama's former Senate seat."

Then...."'Pay to play'
In a statement, Burris said he hoped the tapes will also be released to the public.
"These transcripts verify the accuracy of my previous public statements on this matter and demonstrate once and for all there was no 'pay to play' involved in my appointment to the United States Senate or perjury in my recounting of that process," Burris said.
His lawyer, Wright, said that on the tape, Robert Blagojevich asks Burris to hold a fundraiser for the Friends of Blagojevich and Burris says "no" to the idea.
Burris then says in response to a question from the governor's brother that he would consider writing a personal check to the campaign fund, but he ultimately decided against giving the check because he was a Senate contender, Wright said. There was never an amount specified on or off the tape as to what the amount of such a check should be, he added."
It will be interesting to hear what is on the tapes, but the tapes should of been released and all of this should of been done before he was appointed. This is just going to distract from the problems our country is trying to over come. -

"That's liberals for U."

It's so wrong for you to group every one together, we "Libs, Centrists, Dems, Ind." don't like corruption either and are trying to ferret them out of office. Had the FBI revealed the tapes sooner he would of never made it to the senate.

It is frustrating when contronted with proof,
Reply
the villain still denies it.
This never happened in Columbo or Perry Mason.
When the evidence came out, they went quietly.
One wonders what is broken in their minds,
that they can continue denials that fool no one.
My theory: lying is like any other habit.
At some point one can no longer stop,
even for the sake of dignity or self-interest.
There is a moral there;
- but just for some of us, of course. -

When some people want something so bad that their judgement and morals fly out the window, then it's only right to deny them the prize. Like Eagle Eye said, if this tape had been released earlier Burris would never have attained the senate seat. Wonder why?

Wasn't there something in the news recently about Jesse Jackson Jr. being more involved in this scandal than originally thought?

Blago should have been promptly removed from his duties and never allowed to appoint anyone to this senate seat. -
