Civil unions will not advance this year in Illinois. The legislative strategy there is just not strong enough yet to get this issue passed. In like manner, it does not seem likely that the cons will get enough votes to ban same-sex marriage. What bothers me most is that this issue should not be open to the voters. What if the existence of the Republican party were put to a vote? Would they be banned based on their minority status?

I've always said this issue shouldn't even be up for a vote.
It is so blatantly unconstitutional, I don't understand why there are those who can't see that, it's downright unAmerican.

Democracy. The people have the right to do everything, including unisex marriage. I not against it.
