Change we can all trust? Hardly! President Obama made a number of promises, and instead has so far treated gays and lesbians no better than President Clinton who threw us under the bus by passing DADT and DOMA. Neither political party cares much for gays and lesbians, but that does not mean we should retreat politically. We need to become more vocal and remind Barack of his promise to end these discriminatory policies. Perhaps Robert Gibbs could spend more time on the treadmill, and less time backpedaling at press conferences.

I wonder if Obama's restraint in ending this stupid policy isn't because he doesn't want to upset the generals who are homophobic and would resist change and reflect on their performance.

I say get over it and end the policy of denying gays the right to serve their country. They have valuable experience and expertise that shouldn't be wasted.

Do not as do not tell is the best policy. Morale would suffer tremendously imo if this policy was eliminated. If I were openly gay in the military I think I would be watching my back my of the time.

“scrap the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy gave Lt. Col. Victor Fehrenbach hope. Now the aviator is wondering if the president will deliver in time to save his 18-year Air Force career”

Save his career? Please this guy knows full well even if Obama ended DADT today this guy is looking at a couple of years in the brig along with a dishonorable discharge.

          Why?

Because he used his military title Lt. Col. Victor Fehrenbach.

U.S. Air Force Policies on Political Activity
Political-related "dos and don'ts" pertaining to military members of all service branches are proscribed within Defense Department Directive 1344.10, titled: Political Activities by Members of the Armed Forces on Active Duty.
          Under the “don’ts”

Participating in partisan political management, campaigns and conventions or making speeches before a partisan political gathering, including any gathering that promotes a partisan political party, candidate or cause or cause
candidate or cause. “Cause” as in repealing DADT

Participating in any radio, television or other program or group discussion as an advocate for or against a partisan political party, candidate or cause.

Making a contribution to, or receiving a contribution from, another member of the Armed Forces or a federal Civilian employee for the purpose of promoting a political objective or cause, giving speeches, writing articles or providing public comments, which contain political material in one's capacity as a service representative

"I will fight this in uniform and I'll fight it without," Fehrenbach said. "I swore an oath to defend and support the Constitution, I'm going to speak out and fight this until the law is repealed because it is not constitutional."

He said "don't ask, don't tell" denies American service members their constitutional right to privacy, due process and equal protection, and forces them to lie about who they are when honesty is part of the code they serve under.

Yada yada yada, Lt. Col. Victor Fehrenbach, your in the military, The Constitution does not apply, dats why they have the UCMJ
