ON OBAMA: A BUYER’S REMORSE »
Posted By pc25 6 months ago in NewsAdmittedly, I was one of the moderate conservatives who was wooed by Obama during his PR campaign to become the country's next president. Sadly, even though I was still unsure of my vote until the week before the election, I know better now. I truly had no idea he would turn out to be the radical tax and spend liberal he's revealed. Since the beginning of his presidency, Obama seems more interested in making policies and decisions that grab headlines than those in the best interests of the country. The announcement of his whopping $3 trillion budget, trailing the $800 billion bank bailout, was shocking and yet the media seemed to rally around him. The president wants to do everything at one time, national healthcare, economy, taxes (wealth redistribution), clean energy, infrastructure, education and more. He acts very king-like, expecting Congress to endorse everything he floats their way, but his high octane PR strategy--loaded with smiles and good oratory may be fading.

Turns out he’s an inexperienced statist liberal. Oh, and evidently the media’s in the tank for him. Who knew?
A smile and eloquent speech won’t make it all right,” she concludes. Why not? It was good enough to win the presidency. Enjoy this, though, because if you think Buckley, Noonan, Parker or any other “conservative” who was soft on The One during the campaign is going to feed their ego a shinola sandwich over it in print the way this woman has, you’re kidding yourselves. In fact, Buckley’s already written a defense of his vote, the basic logic of which was that Obama’s a disaster but still one cool cat. Sigh. -

As I commented once before, during the election, when a Propeller-Head mentioned the late William F. Buckley, Jr.'s Son, Christopher, was voting for Obama: "I've heard it said, 'Genius skips a generation.' " Quotation affirmed.-

from Buckleys column
A self-loathing elitist responds.
Let's take a quick look at the tape. What I said in my Daily Beast endorsement of Obama last October was as follows:
"President Obama will (I pray, secularly) surely understand that traditional left-politics aren't going to get us out of this pit we've dug for ourselves. If he raises taxes and throws up tariff walls and opens the coffers of the DNC to bribe-money from the special interest groups against whom he has (somewhat disingenuously) railed during the campaign trail, then he will almost certainly reap a whirlwind that will make Katrina look like a balmy summer zephyr."
So much for my secular prayers. Maybe I should have tried the old-fashioned kind instead. For now, he is raising taxes and proposing Brobdingnagian government spending and expansion. It would thus seem that I was wrong about him.
he then goes on to say that he was wrong about Bush ignoring the facts of the 9/11 attack
then there is a lot of boring mumbo jumbo (nausiating to read through) about elites. You get the feeling with Buckley that it was mainly one elitist voting for another elitist. Pity those poor unwashed masses of sweltering humanity who can not comprehend what it means to be an elite. No Washington cocktail parties rubbing elbows with the power brokers. With the movers and shapers of our domestic and foreign policies.
He somewhat redeems himself in the last 2 paragraphs although I m none too happy with his first sentence. He still has not grasped the errors of his ideas.
If I had to vote all over again, I'd pull the same lever. Maybe I'm obtuse. Or maybe I just haven't yet entirely given up on the old audacity of hope.
Meanwhile, my fellow elitist David Brooks has issued a clarion call to moderates of all persuasion to rally to prevent Obama from ruining what's left of the U.S. economy. Let us march!
perhaps there is hope for the young Buckley yet. The old man must be turning over in his grave as it seems the apple has fallen far from the tree of the great Conservative thinker

Anyone who bothered to look at Obama's voting record knew that he was far to the left. Folks getting buyer's remorse over their vote for Obama are hoodwinked idealists who were more concerned with "making history" than making a rational choice. But at least the author has the honesty to admit his mistake.-

You didn't read the article.

Which was no loss, trust me.
She (krystal, the lady with the big picture next to the article) was 'lying'
by 'implying' she voted for him without actualy saying she did;
so she could pretend to be disapointed in him.
Her objections to his presidency are the same list as yours or Pc25s.

I think Obama is too far to the right. Most of the bailout was to the bastards who caused the problem and I see him as another Clinton. Seek the middle to try to reach out to the right and get burned bad for it. Obama should know not to appease these bastards because they are not up for cooperation. A lot of the right is like suicide bombers. If they can't get everything they want they would rather destroy it all.

--Right, Crystal. We can tell you're a con--you start off with a lie.
"Sadly, even though I was still unsure of my vote until the week before the election, I know better now."
--So she hadn't made up her mind a week before the election? People like this terrify me.
"I truly had no idea he would turn out to be the radical tax and spend liberal he's revealed."
--Whatever. He didn't and he hasn't. He cut most Americans' taxes. If yours weren't cut, boo hoo...More than likely it's because you were extremely wealthy and benefited from all the tax cuts that got us into this hellhole in the first place. And what does Crystal want us to do? STOP spending? Who has recommended that? Crystal doesn't say (neither do cons who bitch that we're spending too much).
"The announcement of his whopping $3 trillion budget, trailing the $800 billion bank bailout, was shocking and yet the media seemed to rally around him."
--I'm sorry but Crystal is truly an unbelievably stupid person.
"
"Mr. Obama spends money like its coming out of his own piggy bank and expects Congress to rubber stamp his agenda at every turn, which they have been doing except when it came to the closing of Guantanamo Bay prison."
--It's PRESIDENT Obama, Crystal. And it's because of the extreme stupidity and gullibility of people like you that we're now in the position of having to clean up from Bush's failed leadership. Again, stupid woman, I ask the question: What should we do? STOP spending? Exactly...You're being ignorant and you know it. I couldn't read beyond that paragraph. Crystal is clearly a lying moronic neocon and it's little wonder that one of her fellow brain damaged kon klan kooks posted this absolute HORSESH*T disaster of an article. Pure CRAP. Thanks for the entertainment, though. ;-P -

"It seems like the president's image is unraveling in recent months and we're getting a look at the real Obama underneath the PR, razzle, dazzle veneer he sports so well."
Reply
The "real" Obama was always there if you bothered to look beyond the "razzle dazzle veneer"
Too bad so many voters were mesmerized by the hype and never bothered to look further
He'll lose the moderates first - those people in the middle who never seem to be able to make a decision based upon logic
As they say - If you walk or stand in the middle of the road you will get run over
Obama's middle of the road voters are getting hit over and over and over and they don't like it -

Question: did 'Crystal Wright' vote for Obama?

Nothing there says she voted for Obama; it just wants you assume it.
But did she vote for him?
Perhaps she is just incoherent?
Nahh.
It is a pose, - adopted to make it seem like the rest is not a standard fox-talking-point screed, but a sniffling letter from a maid, betrayed.
The trick is she can't keep the right tone. .
She can't talk about what Obama promised that she liked , because she hates those goals and he has kept them.
These are the words, not of a disillusioned follower,
but an angry partisan. Not someone explaining how they were deceived,
- they are declaring with angry spite how Obama was a fraud all along.
Perhaps he is; the world is a dangerous place,
- and we are often lied to.
Best we can do is keep a sharp eye out for the liars. -

I really have to wonder about the intelligence of any so called conservative who voted for Obama. It was very obvious that Obama was going to govern from the left during the campaign even if you only listened to what the main stream media said about him. The reason these folks voted for Obama was the same reason a dim witted friend of mine voted for him. They thought it would be cool to elect a black president and never thought or cared about how he would govern.

"a dim witted friend of mine voted for him".
Reply
What sort of person calls a friend 'dim witted'?
Isn't that as unlikely as 'Krystal Wright', - who pretends they voted for
Obama, when they don't support any of the goals he declared in his campaign?
And if you were fooled by this article,
- apologize to your friend.

People never like to hear the truth, they would ratther read lies but he is my president and I did vote for him I well not give up on Obama he has so much, he has to deal with along with what the former president did the whole eight years. Everybody thinks he should get all theses things done over night but that is impossible. PC, one day you well see that you are wrong, I remember late at night and how you supported Obama and talked about the other side, you havent gave him a chance.
Reply
Do you think that you could repair everything that was done in those last 8 years and beat your brains out to make sure we dont get attact again and the whole bet, you wouldnt know where to begain nor would wolfie2007, try and take the whole worlds problems in one mans hands and besides that not getting any suport or a thank you mr President, hes done well for all that man has took upon his shoulders. Gave him a break and remember like in the one comment, they thought it would be cool to elect a black president. The color of ones skin makes no differance! If it wasn't for the Bush adminastration Obama would have had alot more done, I do think Bush did this on self pity and knew we would all suffer for it and it would take the next President years to undo what he had done. Bush is so immoral.
