Guantanamo Bay - 110 years of togetherness: Closing for good? »
Posted By WikiMap 5 months, 1 week ago in NewsBack in 1898, US Marines and Navy invaded the Bay and took control. They tried other incursions into Cuba from there but failed. In 1903, we signed a treaty with the new Cuban government ceding us the Bay for a coaling station.

The Pentagon just released information that when released, these terrorists are rejoining the fight against our troops. We should just throw away the key.>>>>>

Really? Did the 'detainees' tell em that? Or did they have a chat with the terrorist cells the detainees would be 'rejoining?' And who said the detainees are being "released?" Last I heard they're to be moved, and then given a trial. Dang, if the pentagon has evidence they'll be "rejoining" terrorist groups, why is the pentagon worried? With that evidence, the detainees won't be going anywhere but to jail. Can't for the life of me figure out what the problem is. Doesn't matter if they're at gitmo or in a federal prison, unless you figure cost. A federal prison is a whole lot cheaper.
Now I haven't heard one word about giving the island back to Cuba. Closing the prison doesn't equate with that. We would still use it for training, and keeping an eye on Cuba/others going in and out of the bay, just as we have for more than 100 years. Sounds like another rumor is being started to scare people. tsk tsk tsk -

The article was informative and interesting until I read the last paragraph:

"Finally, we need to keep this post open and in our hands to keep our friends—the detainees—there. The Pentagon just released information that when released, these terrorists are rejoining the fight against our troops. We should just throw away the key."
Ending with propaganda makes me think that the history of Gitmo was just a ruse to promote torture and indefinite incarceration. -

How well would we react if some other nation came in and said we want this harbor. We are going to take it even though it is in Americas possession. But don't worry we will give you $3084.00 dollars a year for it. LOL
As far as the terrorists rejoining their groups. If the people who are inprisoned weren't terrorists against the United States we have surely made them feel that way now.
Oh but not only them, those who love them, their friends, people who hated America as seeming to be a big self righteous, hypocritical, say one thing do another type of corporate greedy, manipulative, propgandizing country. Have been given evidence to show that indeed, some who are in high places do indeed act in this manner.
So we the people of this land suffer the consequences of our evil leaders.
For those of you out there who will dispute this. I really don't care about your red, white, and blue spinners.
I love America, the land of the free and the home of the brave. Not what it has become the home of the fearful who seek to take everyones freedom to insure their luxuries are continued !!!! -

thinking about bringing the detainees to the US is a bit scary but in the end lets just cut them loose in their own country and close the hole thing down. Why do we have a base i there anyway. It's not like we can't get anywhere in the world by plane or ship in a matter of hours, it really holds no strategic value. Take the soldiers there and put them on the Korean border we will be needing them soon for sure.

My Fellow Patriotic Americans: Well, I thought it was the best of ideas to just blow the whole thing up, detainees and all. As I think about it that would just make the Liberals run around and cry some more about, but they are human being etc. My next great idea was to just give then bomb making material and let them know that the terrorist that makes an explosive device, first, that could level the entire structure would win immortality. You know a Reality Type Show where we the hated Conservative spectators could revel in all the Bomb making activities that those detainees would frantically be going through. Of Course, for immortality as they competed from week to week. Then I realize that the Moderates and the Liberals would have a problem with that because their President would not get to have his face on television enough. Now, I believe my latest idea is probably the best. Put them to work, something they have not experienced in their lifetime, since terrorism is all they have ever know. First they must till the soil for their new Garden, supervised by Mrs. Obama, plant the crops, radishes, corn, pumpkins, etc., then have them dig a big trench surrounding the garden for the fertilizers, line them up around the trench, and machine gun them down, then bulldoze them in an cover them up, sort of a once know Hussein technique of years gone by. Now, what to do with the structure? Condos, that's right Condos, that way we got rid of the pest, and created a money making project that Obama would be pleased with, not to mention help him pay off his growing Deficit. Hey, we could even make it a tourist attraction and charge some healthy fees. Why do the entrepreneurs always have to come up with the Money Making Solutions? The Real American ,
