A Pennsylvania newspaper should be expecting a visit from the Secret Service soon. The Warren Pennsylvania Times-Observer published an ad on Thursday that called for the assassination of President Barack Obama.

Just shows you how stupid the rabid GOP right wingers are. They don't even know it is a very serious federal crime to threaten the President! DOH! Guess he'd better read up in his bible and clean his gun cause the feds are surely comin for him! Truth be known, he was probably inspired by Limbaugh, Beck, O'Reilly, Hannity, etc. I just wish this would come out! They are inciting crazy people to do violent things! They need to be shut down!

  As terrible as the ad is, there is a distinction between *I hope he dies* with *I'm going to kill him*, legally speaking. In a court of law, I think a good case could be made that this is a freedom of speech issue vs. a threat upon someone's life because of the careful wording in the ad. It allows the reader to make the connection (though it worries me that whoever screens the ads did not pass 8th grade history) without directly threatening the president.
  
  Of course, statements like this will put this person on the short list if something/someone were to successfully threaten the president.

    If the paper said they were "inciting crazy people to do violent things", would you consider it a fact? Hell no! So why does it matter whether the paper mentions this accusation or not?
    Fact is there are a lot of crazy people in the world, and most of them are paranoid about any form of authority, including government. This should not be allowed regadless of who the president is.

  Many posters here on propeller would be there also for wishing Bush dead if you were right. While I don't want to see the President killed, intentionally or accidentally, criminalizing the thought (wish/whatever) isn't right, either. If the idiot had been asking for applications or donations to make it happen, oh yeah, then he/she needs to be put away, but I think a mental health evaluation would do more good than prison.

Wishing for a president to be assassinated is tasteless but it is not a crime. Threatening the president IS a crime. This ad falls into the first category.

the story says "they should expect a vist from the Secret Service soon" BUT THEY HAVNT!! And they wont! Because the articale is very carful and the SS will never set foot in the door, good for this news paper, Obama is a horrible person I hope he has a heart attack
