America has finally come to realize that Newt lied to us with his Contract With America and that a party that looks at its Watergate, Iran Contra & Plamegate convicted fellons as heros, really is a terrorist party in America... and has been long before 2006!

Only presidents above the law: Nixon & Dumya!
Only party to attempt impeachment: the repugs (twice, Johnson & Clinton)
Only party to dominate the Most Corrupt Congressmen list all the time even when a minority in Congress: the repugs!
Only party to conduct preemptive war, torture, eavesdropping on Americans, political assassination by our military and so callously disregards collateral damage: the repugs!
Only party to argue secession, rebellion and no constraintston assault weapons, and all before a 100 days under Barack: the repugs! -

Poor willie thinks that Republicans follow the talk show people. He does not understand it is the other way around. If they were not saying what people want to hear they would not get the ratings they get. Look at Savage. He thinks that those mentioned talk show people are liberals. He does not have the ratings that they get. Can you figure that one out little willie?

Judging from the reaction Senator Cornyn has shown towards the negative comments by Gingrich and Limpballs perhaps the GOP is starting to come around. The GOP is still being held by the death grip of the Evangelical right wing and their strident call to turn the US into a Christian image of Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Orin Hatch saying the same thing, but I remember him wanting to put an Alabama women in jail for daring to provide background on a Bush nominee, Pryor!

Hatch, Cornyn & Sessions are just putting on a facade and will show their normal bigoted colors shortly! -

I agree with jeboba. Definitely too little and too late. Cornyn's response was ridiculously weak. These people are absolutely filthy and their behavior has been utterly reprehensible. No one buys that the GOP is genuinely concerned about the seriousness of these accusations and the insults being hurled at Sotomayor

RIP.................................................. with the lies, deceit, divisiveness and dishonor you've heaped upon our Nation.

The treachery has been inexcusable, the incompetence extraordinary and the hubris unacceptably evil in its nature.
God may one day forgive your treachery, but the American Electorate will not. -

The danger in the imminent demise of the GOP is that this nation may swing too far left and that would be damaging just as swinging too far to the right has proved to be. We see what happens when radicals of any sort control a nation. Look at Afghanistan. Look what's happening in Pakistan. A radical one way road carries no traffic except those in power. North Korea is a prime example as well.

My political views are middle to left. Sometimes more one way than the other depending on the issue. On some issues I lean a bit to the right as well. There are points to both sides. However I do not want the whack jobs from the weird end of either spectrum to run the whole country. The real worry about the GOP right now is that they are basically allowing whack jobs with personal profit motives to run the party. Bad news for the Republican party and possibly not so good for our country as a whole if indeed the Republican party fails completely. To survive as a viable political entity it seems that the Republicans will need to change. I'm not sure this is possible given the current problems inside the party. Just as with the Whig party they may need to fade and be replaced. But replaced they must be because any entity in power needs a foil, a loyal opposition to balance out the excesses committed either willingly or by accident. -

It is my opinion that any process that is refuted will not reach a point called concurring...and that is illegal...the basis for this is the fact that we rule with the majority...not splitting us completely apart...at odds with each other...we ordained them, and not they us.

I wouldn't say that it's any more out-phased than it was after Barry Goldwater lost the election. Just re-grouping! But of course, the Democrats would want to believe it's true!

At that I say the US should divide. Liberal can have both coasts and the north stretch of land that no one else wants-- Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, etc. The conservatives can have the south and the middle and I think that's the only way to keep everyone happy. What liberals do is their own affair-- let "their" country implode with all the damn welfare that the rest of us are sure to boot over to them!-

Joanie - I'm sorry you see the country as 2 separate countries. Let me remind you that we are the UNITED STATES of America. "United" means a coming together to form a single unit.
Reply
The parts may disagree, but they stay united.
The last time some states decided to form a separate nation, a little ol' Civil War interfered with their plans.
Your thinking is symptomatic of the arrogance that being in dominance for 14 years created and the petty pouting that came from losing the last election.
Grow up. Let yhour mind rejoin the United States. Work and live with the rest of the country or crawl back into your cave and continue sulking.

Nope, not phased out. Simply marginalized for the time being.

Hopefully, the electorate will become Realists instead of partisans.
Rule 1: All politicians are crooks and liars. It is only a matter of degree.
Rule 2: Political parties are merely a club so that crooks and liars join so they can create a common facade used to perpetuate their own existence.
Rule 3: When in doubt, re-read rules one and two. -

german-, I am inclined to go with your last comment. I have been suggesting the formation of a Viable Independent Party, a Coalition of Independent Parties for a least a couple of years and at the same time calling for shunning the Republican Party out of existence.
Reply
My rationale is this:
There are a lot of good people who are Republicans, but their voice is shut out by the Conservative Right. So if we take the pledge to "Never vote for a Republican Candidate again", those good Republicans are likely to look to formation of a New Independent Party or join in an Independent Coalition. I would prefer a Coalition, but in any event, I don't think they would move to the Democratic Party.
I believe the Country is ruled by a Two Headed Monster, The Democratic and the Republican Parties neither of which has the interest of the American public at heart. And the problem is that for any politician to be elected, they must first pass the muster of either of these corrupt Parties.
As a result we get corruption whichever we elect.
We need to get new blood into the system in quantities that can make a difference. This Coalition I refer to is one way.
I am sure there might be others, I just don't seem to visualize any other way. But I have taken the pledge and I ask others to join me.I will never vote for a Republican Candidate again.
Starting two years ago I started contacting Independent Parties about forming a Coalition. No luck on that, but forming a completely new party would not be easy either.
The main thing is that we need to punish a Political Party for its malfeasance and I don't believe that there could be any more punishment for a Political Party than for it to lose its clout in America.
I am ready to join and assist any effort to form a Coalition, Form an new Party just as long as one of the goals of the new organization is to punish and eliminate one of the Two Heads.
I choose the Republicans to attack because they have earned the target because of their reprehensible behavior over the last eight years. -
