The plane most likely went down. Air Bus, while certainly not my favorite plane, does do well in water landings. If the pilot was able to control the "landing", there is a very good chance there are survivors. If they are in the water, rescue better be fast. The Atlantic isn't warm this time of year.

I'm not surprised it's an Air France plane. I flew on one of those to Madrid and it sounded like it was blacking out. The engines sounded like they were cutting out in mid-flight. No one seemed terrorized, but, I was thinking the worst. By the way, the food was...hideous. After eating a meal, I ended up with a horrible head-ache, became nauseous, and barfed. I felt fine right after I up-chucked. The best flight I was ever on was United. Hands down, the best.

I extend my most heart felt regrets to the family and friends of those on this flight. After losing a loved one 32 years ago and being "blown off" by both a foreign government and the United States government, unfortunately, I am sorry to say that anything is possible......
