Be careful with vitamin D, there is such a thing as overdose. If your eyes look yellow, even a little bit, consult your doctor immediately.

Mine said there was no such thing as overdose, but when I looked on the internet, I found that not only is there such a thing as an overdose, it can be dangerous.-

Klarissa, you have vitamin D confused with vitamin A. It is VERY VERY difficult to get an overdose of vitamin D. Vitamin A, however can be very dangerous and can lead to yellow or bronze skin.

An overdose of vitamin D is possible if you take HUGE doses of supplements. An overdose of vitamin D from the sun is NOT possible (sunlight can both manufacture vitamin D and, if there are high doses in the skin, destroy it).

It is very hard to get enough vitamin D from supplements. Compared to 15 minutes in the sun (about 10,000 units), the usual dose (400 units) is insignificant.

There is no official recommended daily dose for vitamin D. The 400 unit value is just enough to prevent rickets, but not enough to prevent the more suble symptoms of vitamin D deficiency (primarily immune dysfunction). -
