NY Yankees: Subpoena will cost more than $5M
Posted By ap 7 months ago in SportsALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York Yankees officials say it would cost taxpayers more than $5 million if the team is forced to provide internal records sought by lawmakers looking into public financing of the club's new stadium.
Assemblymen Richard Brodsky, a Westchester Democrat, and James Brennan, a Brooklyn Democrat, are questioning nearly $4 billion in public-supported financing the Yankees got to build the new ballpark. They say many ticket prices have been hiked beyond the reach of fans.
Speaking during a court hearing in Albany Monday, Yankees CEO Lonn Trost says 90 percent of non-suite stadium tickets cost under $100.
The hearing is scheduled to continue later Monday.
