"I really want to hear from all of you," Baucus said on the video, according to local media. "You're my employers. You're my bosses. You're the people I work for. I'm just the hired hand. I want to hear what you want to see in any legislation we pass in Washington, D.C."
He got what he asked for.-

Max Baucus has been a slimy character mostly interested in his own personal profit for decades now. One of the type of Democrats we can do without and certainly not one we should trust with healthcare.

...CALL MAX AND TELL HIM TO INCLUDE SINGLE PAYER ADVOCATES AND HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS IN THE SENATE FINANCE COMMITTEE HEARING ON MAY 12TH.
... It is quite apparent to me that Senator Baucus is much more interested in keeping his donors happy than he is in helping you and me. No other Democratic member of Congress has taken more money from big pharma and health insurance companies than this tool, Baucus got $183,000 from health insurance companies and $229,000 from drug companies....
...I just saw a video of the Senate finance committee hearing that was addressing health care reform. Invited to attend by Baucus were Health Insurance Companies, Big Pharma and lobbyists for Health Insurance Companies and Big Pharma. Noticeably absent was anyone that was for SINGLE PAYER, in fact those in the audience that supported Single Payer were thrown out of the hearing.
I recommend that you take a look at THIS flier that supports Single Payer Universal Health Care.
I would also point out that polls show that over 60 percent of Americans and 60 percent of physicians want single-payer.
Here is a couple more sites to use in our quest for Single Payer.
Physicians for a National Health Program
Leadership Conference for Guaranteed Healthcare
PLEASE get involved and tell MAX to include ALL opinions in the Health Care Debate, ESPECIALLY the opinions of those professionals that actually provide Health Care!
Max Baucus is trying to keep the Insurance Companies and Big Pharma happy by screwing "U.S.".

I wouldn't trust insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies nor the hospital and physician groups in deciding what's best for the people. Only we, the people, know what's best for us. Why aren't you listening Baucus? Got too many lobbyist buck stuck in your ears?

"If you think your insurance company is screwing you ... then you'd have the option of going to the public plan,">>>>

Too simplistic. Will the private plans pay more for the same services, pushing DR's not to accept the public plan? (Which in turn will cause people to go for the private plan in order to get better health care). And will the public plan pay for the same services that the private plan will? This sounds like nothing more than offering medicare to everyone. And medicare has a lot of flaws, including keeping its recipients from the best DR's and procedures.-

Jordan11 - This really a question - NOT a criticism, but about your statement:

I should be more knowledgeable on Medicare ( I guess I'm not) so I would
appreciate it if you could explain how it would keep us from the best docs and
procedures. Is it because those docs, facilities, etc. won't accept Medicare?
Medicare doesn't have a Preferred Provider list, does it?

social security is running out of money. medicare and medicaid are close behind. the money that was to be put aside for the retirement of the boomers has been spent and only IOUs exist. the annual federal budget is in the hole by roughly $2 TRILLION and the running national debt is now at $11 TRILLION.
and now 'the people' want universal health care?
what's that quote? ... when the people realize that they control the money supply, and can vote themselves gifts, that's when we're truly screwed?
i paraphrase...-

Funny, you never minded when we spent $11 BILLION a month in Iraq.
Reply
You don't complain that we spend $1 TRILLION a year on the Military ... every year ... year after year ... after year ... after year ... after year.
Sounds like you appreciate Government spending quite a bit.
Just not on Average Americans.
You would rather our Government build hospitals in Iraq ... for Iraqis ... and giver THEM free medial care.
But not Americans.
Funny how the Modern Republican will twist any justification to send money OUT of our nation ... but never TO our nation.
What's up with that?

BTW ... you ARE right ... we probably can't do everything.

I guess we will have to CUT BACK on Government spending on the Military.
But of course, that shouldn't be a problem.
We currently spend roughly the SAME amount on Military Defense as the rest of the world ... COMBINED.
Gee ... cutting our defense spending by 25% might just eliminate our national debt, pay for health care, social security AND Medicaid ... imagine that.
And the PLUS ... without spending obscene amounts on the military ... should our nation ever again elect incompetents such as George W. Bush and Dick Cheney ... they wouldn't so easily sen our military to the far corners of the globe in goof-ball nation-building schemes.
.
It's all about priorities, beavith ...

We could pay for it all by simply cutting out trillions of dollars of corruption connected with the pentagon and "military/industrial" complex. So far Obama is not up to the job of ending the massive corruption.

The only way to successfully implement a non-profit health care option in this country is to beat the lobbyists at their game. Enough Americans must make it clear to their political representatives that should they accept money and support form insurance lobbies and big pharma and fail to support real health care reform, they will NOT RE-ELECT them no matter how much money they spend on their campaigns. It is that type of grassroots solidarity that prevented another GOP from entering the White House. And it is that kind of impassioned advocacy that will defeat the lobbyists from exploiting hot-button issues to divide Americans against each other.

If there is one thing that I really hate about elected representatives it is when they send their staff out to try and sell a idea or policy that they have already made their minds up on. Up here we were lucky that we got universal medicare when we did because if we had tried to do it today I doubt that it would get passed for the simple reason that when it comes to alot of politicians money does all the talking and alot of the thinking as well. The only way that you will have any luck with a universal medicare plan is you will have to take the bull by the horns and fight like hell, start making a noise now and try not to fall for the scare tactics that will be used by the system to change and divide you.

If I sound passionate about this topic it is because I am, this is one social program that aids the economy of any country, and is not a drain to the countries reserves.-

you do sound passionate. but et's look at this statement:

'...one social program that aids the economy of any country, and is not a drain to the countries reserves.'
i must differ. we see this argument with regard to education, amongst others, too. its a logically flawed argument.
let's spend every discretionary dollar on health care, because as everyone knows, health care is important. what happens to education? well, you'd say, le's split every one of those discretionary dollars between health care and education, because, as we all know education and health care are of paramount importance. throw in retirement. throw in running the gov't. throw in feeding the poor. throw in the military.
every discretionary dollar taken from individuals reduces money that can be put into investing in businesses, infrastructure, homes etc.
this is where the presumption that gov't is not the best arbiter of spending in an economy, comes in.
our system is based on all these countervailing wants and needs coming to some kind of compromise. nobody is going to like the details, but th esystem works. when you have one party dictating (republican or democraic) terms, that's a recipe for disaster. there is no equity. its one side ramming their choices down the throat of the other. i suppose that becaus eth edemocrats are in power, they will take great pride in sticking it to the republicans, but they do it at their near and long term peril.
