Student Arrested After Smoking Joint During Pro-Pot Essay At School »
Posted By Eagle_Eye 5 months ago in NewsPURDY, Wash. -- A student presenting an essay at Peninsula High School in Purdy on Tuesday morning took out a marijuana joint, lit it, and began smoking it, police said.
Read the essay here.
According to Pierce County sheriff's detective Ed Troyer, the student smoked the joint during his essay supporting the legalization of marijuana.
He then finished his essay, sat down, finished smoking the joint and then ate the end after it was fully smoked.
The teacher of the class contacted the school resources officer, a Pierce County sheriff's deputy, who found a small residual amount of marijuana on the student, Troyer said.
The student, a 17-year-old junior with a 3.7 grade-point average, was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana by Pierce County deputies and booked into Remann Hall in Tacoma.

Seriously, I suppose there always has to be someone willing to stand up for a cause and he truly went all the way with is one. For this he might be expelled and ruin his chances of getting into a decent college. Those are the likely consequences of his actions. -

oh no! Makes me wish we were still using the terror alert color code, because we'd be in the red after this incident. Why, this is so severe that the school might note this on his "permanent record". LOL

I suspect he knew the consequences of his actions. Throwing tea into a cold harbor seems pretty stupid on its face, and there are any number of other examples for actions large and small by people seeking to change the system. He's pushing back on the idiocy of the drug laws his way, and other people will choose different methods, but all methods will be attacked as rubbish by people who want their world to stay just the way it is, with our perpetual war on drugs and police build-up. I don't want to make this kid out to be the hero of some cause, but on the other hand, I don't think his actions are as obviously reckless as opponents of his position might state, and I don't see the lasting damage from this incident. Perhaps the police intervened before he completed his joint and immediately gatewayed into heroin, which as we are told is the inevitable slippery slope of MJ use.
It's a plant. The world has real problems to deal with instead of recycling yesterday's fears. Thanks for the story EE. -

Among other things I have been screwed over by I gave a speech for my college communications class where I went beyond legalization and gave a speech promoting drug use. F-ing professor gave me a bad grade and told me how my subject was unacceptable. He also made absolutely no mention about the structure of the speech, reality, logic or anything that I was supposed to be graded on. If I had known he was just going to grade me on whether he liked what I said I would have given a god hates **** speech because he was an intolerant one and thats the way I handle things. Nothing against gays but if you are an A-hole I will take you down and perhaps that may involve a slur but understand it is not because someone is gay. I just attack the most vulnerable areas.
