Propeller Week In Review: Greatest Hits Edition »
Posted By JamesMarcus 6 months, 3 weeks ago in NewsStep right up, folks, for the Greatest Hits Edition of the Week In Review. Instead of focusing on stories from the last seven days, we've cast the net wider, clear back to 2007. Travel back in time with us as we argue about Obama, frown over human cloning, and debate the artistic merits of that nude painting of Sarah Palin.
You'll also find the community debating over Bush's pardon of Lewis "Scooter" Libby. One member, cocking a cynical eyebrow, said: "This administration and these contemporary cons sure make Clinton look like a mix between Churchill and Alexander the Great." Replied another: "Jesus, I sure didn't hear all you clowns screaming and hollering when Slick Willie pardoned hundreds of convicted felons."
And what about that "underground city" in Leavenworth, Kansas? Was it a subterranean rumpus room? A tunnel complex leading to the nearby prison? For the answer, visit the blog post--then join the comment thread for some brisk, post-WIR conversation!
Week In Review: June 5, 2009
U.S. President Barack Obama makes his key Middle East speech at Cairo University June 4, 2009 in Cairo, Egypt. In his speech, President Obama called for a "new beginning between the United States and Muslims," declaring that "this cycle of suspicion and discord must end."

I'll miss you all as well. But it's not like I'm closing my Propeller account--I can still stick around and wallow in the comment threads. In fact, now that I'm not obliged to wear my allegorical costume of Justice and Impartiality (that blindfold always irritated my skin), I might be a lot more fun. You can see what a vicious partisan I really am :).

James will most definitely be missed, not only with his wordplay in these Week in Review posts, but in his leadership role in the Propeller community. He won't be far, as his new editorial position is within AOL, but his focus will be shifting away from Propeller.

We hope to see James stop by every now and then, and wish him the best in all future endeavors. I for one have enjoyed these Week in Review posts immensely. Fridays won't be the same. -

I don't know what to say James, I'm speechless and sad that you won't be here any more but yet I know this is a move for you in your career so I can't begrudge that.

I hope you do come onto the threads and let your REAL emotions and feelings be known, I am definitely looking forward to that.
But at least you have a job, that is the most important thing considering the current state of our economy and I am happy for you in that respect.
Good luck my friend and stay in touch, be sure to post some of your editorials here for us to enjoy also!!!
Peace, EE-

Thanks, EE, for your kind thoughts. Like I said above, I will miss my role as minor panjandrum of Propeller, but I have no plans to close my account and am sure I will be stopping by. Of course my real emotions have always been visible. But I did try to maintain an even-handed vibe, since that was a big part of my job.

I often thought the day would eventually come in which AOL or another website would come along and take James and his talent away...its very sad that it has now come to pass.

Tom is 100% correct - Friday's on Propeller will never be the same.
James, Good Luck and much success with your work over at AOL and most of all...thanks for being a friend to all of us. You will truly be missed.
A sad day for the Propeller Community - -

James - you will be sorely missed!

I can also imagine that you must have mixed feelings - let me guess that you will miss us too, but that you may also be feeling a sense of relief at not having to deal with a bunch of unruly ego-maniac pseudo-teenagers either blaming you for whatever goes wrong for them at propeller or trying to persuade you to wreak vengeance on another member of the so-called "community" on their behalf!
In your shoes I think I'd sneak in the back door wearing a different improbable disguise every week and dispense vitriol and brimstone in lethal[virtual!] doses to all my nemeses with unbridled glee.. I know you're too nice a guy to do that [but if you want MY list just to get you started..]
Three cheers for you James and a round of this little ditty!!

Thanks James. Sorry to learn that you will be moving on. Replacing you will be like replacing King Solomon. Shedding the cloak of impartiality should be quite liberating, if not dangerous. Ha! You will be missed.

As you might know, I have posted “A Propellerhead Said That?” each week for the last two weeks and may try to keep it going. But I do not possess the allegorical robes of impartial justice that you have brought to the WIR. In fact, among a certain circle of “friends” I am more commonly referred to as a card carrying tree hugging animal rights activist spamming baby killing f***king liberal Marxist anti-capitalistic left wing radical treasonous terrorist anti-Christian, anti-Caucasian racist bigoted liar. Certainly a different flavor of the week this will bring the community.
Good luck and thanks for all your support!-

Many thanks, Spade. I'm sure only half of those adjectives are applied to you on a regular basis (well, maybe two out of three). But I hope you'll continue with the "Propellerhead Said" series, which will fill part of the WIR vacuum. And of course you are welcome for the support. It was my job, but also my pleasure.

Many thanks, and I'll be sure to keep those CJR articles coming. In fact, here's a piece that's very relevant to Propeller:

Good luck James - you always took complaints ( which were never is short supply) about Propeller & handled them with a prompt answer - that line of communication was well appreciated.

You should really attempt to check in once a week so Wolfie won't miss his inevitable chance at a drop.

Seriously, sincere congratulations James. Thank you for the time and effort you put into Propeller and for always making a point to address concerns or answer questions so quickly.
I look forward to witnessing your vicious partisanism

My partner just brought me a very special honey-yeasted beer, from a small brewery called "The Abbot", in an outsize crystal hand-made beer-glass.. That makes the long week - including two consecutive all-night work-sessions translating what began to look like like meaningless gibberish - take on a much better perspective..
So may I propose a toast not only to James but to my many other good friends at propeller - the virtual and the flesh-and-blood ones - "Na zdravi!" - and James I hope that when you start the new gig we'll get a heads-up in some form so that we can cheer you on.-

Gama, was that translation gibberish coming in, or gibberish going out? It makes a difference--to the client, at least :). But you can take the Fifth on this, no matter what your passport says.

As for the frosty schooner, much appreciated. We've got no beer in the house right now (strange oversight, I know), but I'll drink a Pils later and give you all a retrospective toast. -

That beer sounds great--what is it called? Wonder if I can get it in my neighborhood. And if James doesn't post his own work here--he is too modest sometimes--we'll be sure to pick up the slack.

Been thinking of making a pilgrimage to Belgium, the beer mecca, to, um, do some much needed research.
