I always find it entertaining when The Modern Christian perverters of Christianity pounce on any and every little incident to oppose a clean environment.

It's like the Modern American Christian Theology is built upon Bigotry - (gays, Catholics) - Pollution - (endless support for polluters), and Retribution - (murdering Dr. Tiller).
When RELIGION becomes a weapon for such Morally Vacant "Ideals" ... one must conclude that it is no longer a religion ... but rather a POLITICAL movement.

I can think of a dozen right off the top of my head.
Here's this person ... buckncindykill ... worked his whole life for the Government ... owes the government for his career ... his mortgage ... even feeding his family .... and he is just PO'd about it.
You find this a lot with Government Workers ... they CAN'T STAND the Government.

Justice - the latest research, a scientific study:
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/05/09051...
The scientists are using mud and rocks from far below the equatorial Pacific Ocean floor to uncover details about the climate history on Earth. The sediment layers recovered from six drilling locations act like pages from a book, and record inch-by-inch Earth’s climate history.
The two-month expedition succeeded in obtaining records ranging from the present to the warmest sustained ‘greenhouse’ period on Earth around 53 million years ago. At that time, alligators lived as far north as the Arctic, and palm trees grew in the Rocky Mountains. Reconstructions have shown that there were no significant polar ice caps, and greenhouse gas concentrations were several times higher than today.
The super-greenhouse early Eocene was followed by gradual cooling and the sudden buildup of major ice caps on Antarctica around 34 million years ago, leaving its mark in the equatorial sediment cores that the scientists are bringing back to Hawaii.
The voyage discovered the effect of large-scale climatic changes on the oceans of the past. 53 million years ago, carbon dioxide in the atmosphere was much higher than today, and made the ocean much more acidic, such that only little carbonate is preserved in sediments recovered from those times. In contrast, during the buildup of ice on Antarctica, the ocean became less acidic very rapidly, and more carbonate was suddenly preserved in the deep ocean. The transition from warm to cool climates took place in less than 100,000 years – well within the time span that humans have been living on our planet. -

I live about 100 miles north of Minot and we have been colder than what would be considered normal for over a year now, any time I have mentioned this to people they say that I am just taalking of weather which is location specific and not the climate. This cooling has been going on for over a year now and seems constant and does cover much of Canada and in some degree the northern states,[not sure about when you get farther south] also the winter in much of Europe was cooler than normal.
Reply
Now if this [trend] continues I am left wondering how people like Al Gore will face the public, I don't have problems with people who have opinions but when they create a cult of followers who wish to change everything on something that has yet to be proven it can be a real waste of time and resources, and in some cases it puts alot of money in the pockets of those who yell that the sky is falling.
Up here we have a saying that if you don't like the weather wait 15 minutes and it will likely change [short term thinking], I feel the same could be said about the climate, if you don't like the climate now you should have been here 10,000 year ago or even a million years ago [long term thinking].
I will never deny that the weather changes and the same goes for the climate, but what I will question is the human effect on both, and when it come to those of us who question this effect I doubt that you will find a single one of us who will not agree that we could and should be more responsible toward the health of our planet and the use of its resources.-

New Solar Cycle Predictions
An international panel of experts has released a new prediction for the next solar cycle, stating that Solar Cycle 24 will peak in May 2013 with a below-average number of sunspots. Led by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and sponsored by NASA, the panel includes a dozen members from nine different government and academic institutions.
Their forecast sets the stage for at least another year of mostly quiet conditions before solar activity resumes in earnest.
"If our prediction is correct, Solar Cycle 24 will have a peak sunspot number of 90, the lowest of any cycle since 1928 when Solar Cycle 16 peaked at 78," says panel chairman Doug Biesecker of the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center, Boulder, Colo.

--I guess the questions I have for skeptics are more common sense-based rather than science-based. Why are skeptics mostly Republicans? Why are people with ZERO scientific expertise convinced they know better than thousands of scientists from all over the world? Why are most of the few deniers with scientific backgrounds American? Why do skeptics pretend that profit and commerce have nothing to do with the fact that it's mostly Republicans who are global warming deniers? Why do those who know the GOP has been perfectly willing to wh*re our country for cheap immigrant labor so eager to dismiss that likelihood when it comes to the issue of global warming? These are all questions that no con can answer and until right wingers can answer these basic, common sense questions, no one believes they are ready to have a serious debate about science. ;-P -

I am quite frankly tired of arguing about weather incidents like snow in the Dakotas in June to deny global warming. The Earth is warming up and the cause may be natural and it may be anthropogenic, most likely a combination of the two. As the Earth warms we don't really know the full ramification of it.The best solution would be to make an effort to reduce green house gases and other pollutants, a win win situation.

poky, I LOL when people who don't even know how to use an internet search engine properly (before they thoroughly embarrass themselves making statements contradicting what they've said in the past) pretend that they are more knowledgeable than those with advanced degrees and decades of scientific study behind them. I don't even waste my time arguing science with these morons because I find it ludicrous that they wouldn't realize everyone knows their true motive is protecting profit and commerce at any cost. These poorly educated social rejects who voted for John McCain and Sarah Palin (after voting for Bush twice) are a complete joke and a disgrace to human kind.

Klarissa, those of us who have followed and studied science most of our lives are perfectly aware that climate change is a perpetual happening on our planet. Your scientific article provided no new information; we have known about this for many years. Glad you are finally catching up.
Reply
No one is arguing that climate change is a new phenomenon. What is new is the *rapid rate* at which the change is currently proceeding and it appears to be exponential. It is unprecedented. It is worrisome.
O.K. Now you can get back to your reading of the Middle School Science 101 textbook.

As you can see ... GRAPHICALLY ... the past 10 years have seen a dramatic rise in average temperature.

Well ... you ARE right about the cooling....
Reply
Fiji has a cooling trade wind that blows from the east-southeast throughout most of the year.
In addition ... winds drop to a whisper in the evening and pick up again by midmorning to offer perfectly timed cooling.
Yes ... Fiji DOES have cooling ... but it's typical of the island ... pretty standard stuff.
And the shrinking tourist business is due directly to the World Economic Catastrophe that occurred due to the Incompetent Management of Government.
Can you try again?

Forrest, did I say " made it seem like it proved man made climate change has been proven wrong.that??" No.
Reply
Interesting that you asked that, though.
It is new information, not political opinion, but research by an international group of real scientists.
"The entire scientific team is made up of 60 scientists from over 15 different countries and represents scientists at every stage of their career from graduate students to senior professors.
Scientists, drillers, and technical staff participated in live interactive video conferences with enthused students and teachers who learned about the expedition’s discoveries, ocean drilling, and life at sea.
The scientists supported by the UK are Heiko Pälike, Paul Wilson, Edgar Kirsty (National Oceanography Centre, Southampton), Paul Bown and Tom Dunkley Jones (University College London), and Peter Fitch (University of Leicester)."
The article is meant to provide additional information to what we already know.
I believe that the climate is changing.
Do humans really make a difference? I don't know.
Should do our best to conserve what we have? of course.
Does Al Gore deserve millions because he makes a crisis out of a naturally occurring event? You will have to decide for yourself.-

First, thanks for replying. And I do mean that. I like it when when can exchange thoughts and perspectives. Now, as to what you posted.
I simply asked you if you had posted the link to the article because you felt it proved something about climate change/global warming. I'm glad you found it "interesting" that I would ask that. I asked because, after having read the article you linked to, I was at a loss as to why you had posted it.
I still don't understand what you're trying to tell me. I mean, your last comment about whether Al Gore "deserves" to make millions doesn't sound like a reasoned, science-based, discussion of the subject.
And it confuses me even more. Do you really believe AL Gore "made" this crisis?

Global warming is a misnomer. Climate change is more accurate, because "climate" refers to "The meteorological conditions, including temperature, precipitation, and wind, that characteristically prevail in a particular region."
