As important as securing marriage equality in the states is, it is equally important to secure benefits for domestic partners. The solution to Arizona's problems is relatively simple. Instead of granting benefits to the domestic partners of state and university employees, it would be easier to bring marriage equality to Arizona. Then, couples, both gay and straight, would reap the rewards.

Seperate but equal is anything but, as this case goes to show.

Let's not forget that domestic partner relationships also happen between heterosexuals who choose not to get married, but stay in a committed relationship. My "boyfriend" and I have been together for 17 years and have just welcomed our first granddaughter in August. I also agree that granting equal rights of marriage to all citizens who want to get married is the civil rights issue of this generation. Hopefully, enough informed citizens will speak out on this issue to the appropriate legislators named in the aritcle. I for one intend to do just that.
