I didn't see John McCain offering anything even resembling what this woman is talking about wanting from government. If she thinks this is all about race then she is a racist. She says she has 4 educated siblings. I can't help but to wonder how educated she is or if she just had her nose in the happy sack. Otherwise, she's entitled to her opinion, such as it is.

FYI, it seems like cons like you are always in the minority when it comes to understanding who qualifies as a "clown". You supported a filthy weasel for 8 years in George Bush, most of the world knows this but *somehow* you think your little 20 percenter POV represents something significant. GET SERIOUS. You're a CON. Cons are losers. You will always make the wrong choice and your views will always be on the far, lunatic fringe.

She's got three different degrees from University of California - Santa Cruz. Now a degree in and of itself does not make someone educated per se, but based on her writing style, I'd say she's doing pretty well in the brain department.

John McCain was a sheep in wolf's clothing and real conservatives knew it. That is why he was not elected, although he was still a better choice than the social experimenter we have in there now.-

Got a question for you, in regards to John McCain being a sheep in wolfs clothing.
The fact that he was elected as the nomimee for the conservative party tells me that the majority of conservatives were confident in his abilities, or he wouldn't have reached the position he did.
You are stating that "real conservatives knew it. That is why he was not elected". Does that mean you are throwing the majority of the party under the bus for "NOT" being part of the conservative party?

Did StevieGee even read the article, or the author's bio? (both at freshconservative.com). McCain was much more conservative than Obama (when John wasn't being cooerced by the Republican Party to straddle the fence), and Paul was closer still to the true conservative POV, but TOO far right for many Republicans. If all Stevie Gee listens to is mainstream TV news, she will never hear the alternative POVs presented every day by men and women much more intelligent than she is.

"I want the small, fiscally-sound government our Founding Fathers envisioned;"
Reply
As opposed to the huge borrow and spend imperial government W created.
"I want my government to give me the opportunity to pursue happiness as I define it, not how the government defines it."
So do I but W raids the marijuana shops. States rights and limited government my ass.
"I want my government to allow me and my sons to thank our Creator anywhere and in any way we like, not how and where the government says we can."
Go ahead and worship unless you are asking for special privileges like the rest of class stops to let you do your thing. If you can stop class to pray to your god then how about Muslims or Satanists. Chances are you don't support that so basically you are an arogant bitch.
"I want my government to let me own a gun so I can protect myself, my sons and my friends from people who want to kill us in our homes, our schools and our workplaces."
No one is taking your guns away you paranoid bitch.
"I want my government to secure our borders now, and then enforce our immigration laws by looking for, arresting and deporting people who have entered our country illegally."
Republicans won't do that. They need to import more labor to make sure wages stay in the basement so the rich can be obscenely wealthy.
"I want my government to decrease our dependence on foreign oil by allowing us to drill for more oil here, now."
Sorry clueless bitch it does not work that way. It takes years to bring a site to production. And the result of the drilling will not make much of a dent in our needs. I want the government to encourage renewable energy to get us off the middle east for good.
"I want my government to let me choose the best schools for my sons, not tell me where they have to go."
What the F are you complaining about? You have choice. Say you choose Harvard for my kids. Its not the dems. keeping your kids out of school. Its because they are stupid like mommy and Harvard doesn't want to waste their time.
"Finally, I want my government to live and breathe and exhibit daily the beliefs our Founding Fathers preserved forever in our Constitution and in our Declaration of Independence."
I agree, we kicked out one king George but we let the latest wannabe George insist he was above the law. -

If you want a small government, then you do not want many of the services provided by the government.
Reply
We are a nation of 300 million people.
It takes a larger government to do most of things that need done.
I don't necessarily want a smaller government, I want one that is a constitutionallly based government.
One that is effecient and realizes that I can make my own choices about my faith, my beliefs in the Almighty, my choices as to whether or not I want to own a gun, my decision as to whether or not I choose to educate my children about the rights and wrongs of sexual activity and the consequences of such behavior.
One of my daughters' is a teacher. For those of you who disparge the educational system. Step right up and give it a try. Ya think you can do better ??? Just remember that it is the Supreme Court that ruled against prayer in class. It is also the courts who have overturned our decisions and made the schools what they are today.
Rooms full of children whose parents came here illegally and then sent to our schools where they cannot understand what is being taught.
So we pay higher taxes for the illegals to tie up our classrooms and frustrate our teachers who must make sure no child is left behind.
I'll never be mistaken for a conservative because I believe in everyones personal liberty as long as they do not harm another. But I'm a moderate and I'm sick and tired of the illegals tieing up the system and costing our country so much in: money, wasted effort, wasted resources, lost opportunities for the students whose parents are citizens or legal residents, and the violence that is being brought to our schools because of the tensions.-

I'm truly sorry that's what you think a Conservative is...someone who's against personal liberties....but I guess I can relate. After all, I think anyone who is a Liberal is a Jew-hating piece of sh*t. I'm sure you can support your views, just as I can support mine.

A couple of thoughts on smaller govt
Return to the Enumerated powers of the Federal govt listed in Article 1 Section 8 of the United States Constitution
Interpret the Necessary and Proper Clause as it was originally intended
Return the 10th amendment to it's original power and restrict the broad interpretation of the Commerce Clause which has eroded states rights
I'm beginning to think the 17th amendment was a huge mistake
House members represent their districts. Senators under Article I, section 3 were to represent their states - "The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each state, chosen by the legislature thereof for six Years; and each Senator shall have one Vote."
Selection by the state legislature would necessitate the Senators actually representing the best interests of their individual states
It was the president who would represent the nation as a whole
With the popular election of Senators we have lost state representation to a large extent
Look at the campaign contributions of the majority of Senators - most of their money comes from out of the state. They aren't representing their states as much as they are representing national powers - businesses and interest groups
So we have been left with both Senators and the President representing the nation and no one really representing their states - one of the major reasons the 10th amendment has been eroded over the years. We now have the President and Senate interested in accumulating power in Washington
Just look at Chris Dodd:
Connecticut Post Online
Peter Urban STAFF WRITER
Date: April 16, 2009
U.S. Sen. Chris Dodd appears to have looked everywhere but his home state to fuel what pundits anticipate will be one of the most hotly contested races in the nation in 2010.
The five-term incumbent reported raising just $4,250 from five Connecticut residents during the first three months of the year while raking in $604,745 from nearly 400 individuals living outside the state.
Exactly who do you think Dodd will be representing if he is re-elected? -

Love Cowboygrandpa for getting the gist of Wright's article... instead of CaptainLucid's filthy verbal diarreah (clearly his mama raised him right, eh?), 'grandpa spoke up for what he believed in... a government that puts the education of its citizens first, ahead of illegal immigrants' education.
Reply
I find it fascinating how many people missed the author's point... bad mouthing, finger pointing and mud slingin' doesn't work, folks! Discussing the issues does. Good work, 'grandpa, you seem to have the "WRIGHT" stuff! Hook' em horns baby! -

You do have a point about services, some should not exist at the US government level. As for small US government, why are so many afraid to look at what worked for nearly two hundred years. The State governments are actually higher then the US government, they would be able to do a far better job then the massive US government.
Reply
Why would there be any less services then there are now? Washington is not the only source of intelligence within the United States of America.
Repealing the 17th amendment would be a start towards reversing the progressive twist of the last hundred years. The servant has become the Master, slowly usurping the powers of the creators. The fire is no longer controlled by the people and is now engulfing their rights.

What was McCain's position on the Wall Street Bail Out again?
Both parties are tax and spend big time. Voting for McCain does not make one a racist. Voting for McCain because you ain't voting for a (n-word) does.-

Many conservatives knew that McCain was not really conservative
His support of the Wall St bailout was simply more proof of something the conservatives had already made up their minds about
McCain didn't have a snowballs chance
Many conservatives either stayed home or voted third party.

Well, let's see. GWB abandoned the hunt for Osama bin Laden and wanted to kill Saddam Hussein instead. He presented a whole catalog of lies and false evidence to make us believe HIM and pursue HIS goals.
Bush allowed the neoconservative Christian right to dictate the policies of the government with its agenda of creationism, religion in schools, anti-minority and anti-immigrant, anti-gay, pro-gun, anti-environmental laws.
This lady wants a government to allow her to pursue happiness as SHE sees fit, but not as others see fit. As long as the government does everything like she wants it, she is happy. If the government were to pursue anything that makes someone else happy, she is unhappy.
What an egocentric, narrow-minded, self serving point of view.
If she had written that she wanted a government that allowed EVERY INDIVIDUAL to pursue happiness as each saw fit and to follow whatever religion each one's conscience desired, then I would be in total agreement -

I think Sinophil49 misread Wright's article. The author said "us" numerous times, and then personalized it to herself, using the Consititutions' freedoms as her example. She never said who she believes is her Creator (could be Allah!) She mentions the Founding Fathers' intent, which was all about "We, the People," not just "certain" people. She never said it was "her way or the highway." I read her words and heard her say she wants a government that gets out of people's lives, quits telling them how they should live, and does not restrict people's inalienable rights, given to them by their Creator (straight from the Constitution). The freedom to create a business, the freedom to become rich and successful, the freedom to follow ANY religion is her right, your right and my right. But sinophil49 found that to be "an egocentric, narrow-minded, self serving point of view." Ouch!

HE IS TRIPLING THE DEBT!!!! OMG! You all wanted "change" but didn't bother to specify what kind!
