The Khmer Rouge regime of the 1970s killed babies and toddlers _ sometimes by holding their legs and smashing their heads against trees _ so they would not seek revenge later in life, the group\'s former chief jailer said Monday.

Once again we will listen to what happpened and shake our heads in disbelief, and feel ill at some of the things that were done, and say that we will never let this happen again, knowing all well that it will for there are those in the world who have no respect for the lives of others but care only for the ideas that they consider to be correct and this is something that can happen anywhee in the world if the conditions are right.
