Posted By populist 6 months, 3 weeks ago in NewsIn the debates leading up to the enactment of the U.S. Constitution, our American ancestors made a demand. Yes, our founders were wise. But they couldn't have foreseen that life would become so good for the American people, they wouldn't be able to comprehend that those in power don't always have the best intention, or aren't always very bright. If our system fails, it will be because of that ignorance.

Sorry, I gotta disagree a bit on that one point. The Constitution was written specifically with the corruption of men and governments in mind. The guys who founded the U.S.A. came here to escape a cesspit of evil and corruption among Governments no better than that of today. They formed the founding laws of the U.S. with the idea that the Powers inherent in the People could not be usurped as long as the populace was unwilling.
The tools for the American People to fix the system are inherent in the Constitution . We must have the Courage to use them.
If our system fails it will be because We let it fail, not the Founders.

But according to this story and people like you we should give the Muslim terrorists who have the same exact reasoning that the pirates in Tripoli had should have our rights as American citizens. In case you do not understand it we have been fighting some form of Muslim terrorists since then. They hate us because we are not Muslims. Look up what the ambassador for Tripoli told Jefferson when he was an ambassador. Same reasoning today.

As far as the pirates I don't think they hated us. They were just plain and simple thieves who were grabbing what they could. We paid them some bribes until we had our own navel posse and then we F them over. Now that we have the baddest posse ever on the planet we shoot muslim pirates still. There is a difference between the mugger trying to get your money and a terroist with political objectives. But getting back to rights I see nothing wrong with taking a pirate or terrorist and giving them a fair trial and if they are guilty they can sit in a federal supermax like the one in Colorado. I heard a top republican who had actually been elected totally freaking out about how we brought a terror suspect from guantanamo into New York in the last few days. He said this was unprecedented and how would the government handle this. He barely stopped short of saying we would give him a license to run a day care center. Of course when dealing with republicans reality is often the first casualty. When the republican said there is no precedent for this he meant other than the terror suspects 4 co conspirators who all got a fair trial and now live in lovely Colorado. Too bad they can't enjoy that beauty because there is a bunch of razor wire and gun towers in their way in the supermax.
