Americans think they are getting out of Iraq, while the invasion/occupation of the Middle East rolls on. Nobody has been watching the gradual US military build-up in sub-Saharan Africa, another oil-rich region.

The oil supply is limited, and the endgame of securing remaining reserves defines US foreign policy. And in the context of our oil-based economy declining in concert with our oil reserves, the US has dumped billions into "bailing out" the sinking ships of GM, Chrysler, Ford so they can continue cranking out SUVs, rather than investing the money intelligently in public transportation infrastructure.
