With so many voices, ranging from Limbaugh, to Romney, Huckabee, and Powell (not to mention Steele and a few other up-and-coming people), it's not surprising that the Republican party and it's followers don't know which direction to go or who to listen to...

I'm just hoping this minority party stays like this for a few more years...

"...So the dominant faces of the Republican Party are all men, all white, all conservative and all old enough to join AARP, ranging in age from 58 (Limbaugh) to 72 (McCain)...."

So nu? Perhaps the problem is expecting the Repubs, in light of their recent thrashing, to come up with a shiny-new, gotta-have-one political message.
When what they stand for is...what they stand for. -

"There's a lot of time and nothing wrong with the Republican Party that health care reform or the cap-and-trade (energy plan) or something like that blowing up wouldn't help fix," Cook says.

well, the last two "spokesmen" for the GOP -- Bush and Cheney sure did a bang up job. no really, what a fantastic job of expanding government, declaring war without congress with no exit plan, torturing, spying without a warrant, detaining without a trial, no-bid fascist contracts, corporate immunity, leave-no-child behind, food for oil, spending-spree. no wonder 1/3rd of Republicans don't like the current face of the party. these two paved the way for an equally dangerous predecessor and all but destroyed the image of conservatism. these two totalitarians don't have a conservative bone in their body.

not to mention bankster bailouts, socialism for the wealthy, granting the federal reserve totalitarian powers, disinformation campaigns, the distructing of the Constitution, creating secret laws, failing to comply with congressional subpoenas, violating International treaties, and overall being colossal aholes.

I don't know who speaks for the Republicans but if I had my choice between Rush or McCain I would put my vote behind McCain, still like the guy regardless what either side has to say about him, and judging by the numbers he actually got in the election I feel I'm not alone. Guess it really doesn't matter though with me being a Canadian.

Republicans, if you happen to be balding, use Rogaine. If you happen to be white, talk to Michael Jackson. He seems to have learned how to dispense with the skin color box that so many find a need for.

And for the rest of you, who seem to think that a political party needs to be like a monarchy... with a single point of focus and a single spokerperson... time to find a clue. You have been living too long in a world where the Democrat party was the Clintons until it became the Obamas.-

Nah, I wouldn't talk to Michael Jackson.

I would consult with Robert Downey Jr who played a white guy trying to act black. Maybe some of the old white guys could put on some black make-up and take some acting lessons from Downey on how to pretend to be black. That is the only way I can see the Republicans try to expand their population base.

yep. that's why Obama has a 60+% approval rating. cause we're scared of him. he scared us into approving the job he's done thus far.
Reply
meanwhile, guys like Dick Cheney have 20% approval ratings, cause we don't find him scary and dangerous, right?
thats some great "logic" you got going there. -

Progressive, that is totally, asinine certinally Obama's performance is key.Obama has fooled a lot of people, but he turned out to be a one pony show. The folks give him a decent grade for his teleprompter skills, even though the nerves in my legs have never gone orgasmic.I personally would give up speeches for a while, and call someone who knows someone who could help me out.I am so unable to fix this country, but I know I could fix the world.

lloyd65, there's just no teeth in that old argument, regardless of what's going on with the nerves in your legs.

Of course Obama's PERFORMANCE is key--but the right wing nuts are hoping for his FAILURE because that's the only way they can expand their electorate.
Obama was elected because people were no longer fooled by the GOP...and every politician today uses either a teleprompter or printed text to deliver a speech, so that's a very shallow criticism.
I agree you should give up speeches for a while and call someone who knows someone who could help you out because you are so unable to fix this country, let alone the world.

All of our voices together.
We will form a unit to vote out the Marxist moron that has lied to get elected and is now breaking all of his promises.
He is a weakling and the whole world now knows it.
Shame on Obama and anyone that voted for him.-

automan - Weakling you say. You prefer the blustery, arrogant, insulting, sabre-rattling rhetoric and aggressive militancy of Bush and Cheney.

YEAHHH! They were REAL MEN!!!
While Obama has quietly presented a friendlier, more approachable, more conciliatory foreign policy to the Mid-East.
Now Lebanon has just voted in a pro-western coalition party and voted down the Hezbollah. Their parliament now has 68 seats for the pro-western coalition and 57 for the Hezbollah.
In Iran, the leading imams, including the Ayatollah Ali Khameini had been in favor of the re-election of Ahmadinejad, who has been stridently anti-western, anti-Israeli, and pro-nuclear power. Now that he has alienated most of the populace and Obama has become more conciliatory to Iran, both popular opinion and the favor of the imams have swung over to the more moderate Mir-Hossein Mousavi.
What do you think would have happened if Obama had been the same blustery, militant, insulting (remember the Axis of Evil) president that Bush was? Who would have won these elections if Obama had also threatened to start World War III and bomb the nuclear energy plants?
Who is the real weakling?
