Letterman Owes Palin, Flight Attendants, Women in General an Apology »
Posted By pc25 5 months, 2 weeks ago in NewsThis is why I stopped watching David Letterman even before Jon Stewart came along: He was forever either drooling on women or treating them like they were perfect idiots, in a way he never behaved with male guests. (I did, however, enjoy the appearances of his mom Dorothy, a church secretary who was occasionally able to summon Good Dave, live from her kitchen in Indiana.)

While it's true, as I've argued before, that liberals don't seem to grasp that their dismissive treatment of Palin is unwise as well as unseemly, Letterman's long history as an equal opportunity offender in no way lets him off the hook.
and I'll add this to her comment dismissive treatment of women in general.-

Palin does not stand for anything that women stand for anyway. So why should she get an apology from Letterman. If anything she owes the entire country an apology for completely wasting our time last Fall. -

And you don't seem to grasp that no, it doesn't let -him- off the hook, but unless you can prove that ALL liberals EVERYWHERE have the same history, it means you can't paint them all with the same brush. That's just common sense.
And "unwise"? ROFL!! Why? If, heaven forbid, she becomes President in 2012, will she have everyone who "dismissed" her hunted down and shot? Or will they just have their wages garnished at 100% during her entire four years to make up for her "pain and suffering"? 8P

How can I express my dislike for that dried up bar ***** who used to hang out at a place called Victor's in Milwaukee. It's a place where bar hags hang out looking for young college age guys. I'd call her a cougar but that would imply she had money, power and sexual appeal. She's a nasty drunk and discretion isn't a word she's familiar with.
Reply
Oh, isn't this what she defended, just a joke, right? Perhaps it isn't. I have photos from the last New Years she celebrated here in MKE. They might be for sale to the highest bidder or free to the Palin family along with all rights as the photographer from our party Brewer crashed. You might have guessed I'm not a big fan of the bar tramp. I don't like someone who crashes and then charges drinks to my tab when I have no idea who they are. I didn't watch the local NBC station. The news was little more than puff pieces for the DNC.

This is true. If you morons would do a little research, you would find out this is true. Obama is an ILLEGAL alien and he is spending millions to keep his records sealed. He does not constitutionally qualify to be president. This is the most serious thing that has ever happened to the United States of America. At a White House news conference last week, Gibbs was ask about the birth certificate and his answer was to shut down the news conference. They are putting up Billboards nation wide asking "Where's The Birth Certificate" since our main stream .ULTRA LEFT WING media won't report this. When enough people find out the truth, we can remove and deport this ILLEGAL ALIEN occupying the White House before he completely destroys America.

Well pc25, you finally did it. You posted an article I can give a prop to. In my opinion, Letterman does have a long list of people he needs to be apologizing to.
Reply
Oh, I didn't agree with everything the author wrote, especially where she painted with a broad brush and lumped all liberals together. But many articles critical of the right/conservative position does the same thing, so I'll forgive her using shorthand. My only response to her, and to your addition in your first comment is that there are many liberals who have something akin to manners and try not to act boorishly to anyone, man or woman.
Anyhow, you almost ruined it with your comment concerning the Rush joke re: Obama and God and birth certificates. I thought, why post that on this thread? I'll bet you get some comments and negs over that. Still, I figured you were putting it in as an example of legitimate political humor.
So I avoided giving you a neg - didn't want to ruin the moment of actually giving a story of yours a prop.
Take care. -

If Wanda Sykes hoping that Limbaugh's kidneys fail passes for humor these days, I hope that Letterman's heart fails. Anyone taking shots at 14-year-olds (don't believe the BS that he was talking about Bristol) doesn't have a heart anyway.-

That's just for starters, let's see, I like to see his wife leave him and take their child. Finally, I'd like to see Letterman eating crumbs of mooseburgers from a garbage can behind Sarah Palin's house. -

In his "I'm sorry" crap he implied he was attacking the 18 year old. I guess it's because she had a child while not married. What about Dave? He was shacking up with that really unattractive woman for several years and got her knocked up. Why is he attacking someone? He's no better, if we're using his concepts for morality.

Where's NOW? Where's the woman's groups? Where's the Hollywood crowd? If this were Rush or Sean we would have the protests and demands he be fired. Where are the same groups that attacked Imus? Huh. I don't care where you stand politically or if you like Sarah Palin or not, her family has suffered brutal and humiliating treatment at the hands of the left and the media. Never can I recall a politician's CHILDREN subjected to such vile, hateful comments. Yes, Chelsea Clinton was made fun of for her appearance and that was wrong, but it in no way compares to the sheer cruelty aimed at Palin's children which has included ridiculing a then 17 year old pregnant teenager, now the 14 year old sexual rape, and even remarks about her MR son. It makes me sick.....what is this world coming to when we make political footballs of innocent children.

Females and fat people are the only groups left that it's OK to publicly attack. I was sickened watching both Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin being aggressively attacked or portrayed during the election with hate-filled, vile, sexual innuendo. And even the mainstream newscasters were going after Palin's kids.
Reply
Of course, until something surfaces, it's hard to point to it. Now it's out there so we can discuss it. I never really cared for Leno, either. He has a mean streak, too, but he's generally more of a gentleman towards women.
I wonder how O'brien is towards women? His type of humor just doesn't resonate with me, so I've not taken the time to check out the new Tonight Show. -

Reply
I'll bet Chelsea might not be quite so dismissive. I can't imagine that it felt good for her to be made fun of on a regular basis for her appearance. She was in her early to mid teens at the time, also, a very impressionable period for anyone, male or female.
Amazing how it's OK for Republicans to make fun of a Democratic president's daughter, and she just needs to tough it out, but when the tables are turned, it's cruel and hateful and vile...LOL...more hypocrisy from some on the right.
That being said, I don't watch David Letterman, I got bored of his lame humor a long time ago, and I don't agree with him making fun of anyone in particular. But I'm fairly certain he did it to Chelsea and the Bush daughters, so you'll be hard pressed to prove he singled the Palin daughters out specifically.

I'm not a Letterman fan, but Sarah Palin stuck herself and her unmarried, pregnant teenaged daughter out there in the public's eye during the last election. If my daughter had gotten pregnant at 17, I don't think I would have paraded her on stage the way Palin did. I doubt I'd have run for Vice President at that time either. When you are a "celebrity" as Palin has become, you are fair game for all the comedians, and sometimes they can be pretty crude. Palin wears short skirts and clothes designed to flatter her comely figure. Bristol Palin is all over the air waves talking about her unmarried, pregnant experience. Not conducive to gaining respect from the public. We all know how Palin wooed a bunch of Washington moguls to get their attention...and the VP nomination. Let them take their lumps like the rest of the rich and famous.

So attacking someone for having kids without being married is now something to joke about? Would Dave like to come to Milwaukee and visit our inner city? I'm sure there are a lot of children there that would love to hear his idea of humor and jokes. Better yet, perhaps his wife would like to join them. It seems she was knocked up way before they got married. Perhaps Dave wasn't sure he was the actual father. Perhaps A-Rod is actually the father of Dave's kid and this is just jealously. Then again, Bill Clinton was making the circuit back then maybe it was him? Gee, when I make a "joke" about this, I feel dirty. Dave feels good about it. I guess that's the difference between libs and conservatives. We don't like attacking the innocent. Attack Sarah or Dave Palin. Attack President Obama or the first lady. Never attack children. Unless you're a talentless wimp. Did he have bypass surgery or was he neutered? And yes I'm very unhappy. Now I have to listen to O'Brien... A fate worse than death.

A good comic has to walk a tight line if they want to be good. Anyone who works as long as Lettermen is bound to go where some people will disagree about whether he went too far. Palin used Bristol as a political prop and once you do that it becomes fair game to make jokes about her getting knocked up. Lettermen just mixed up the daughters. This is far different from just hate like Michael Richards who lost it and called some hecklers the N word. This is relatively minor and Dave apologized. By the way I can't wait to see what Bill Maher says on Real Time on HBO Friday. If you think what Dave said was bad you are really gonna be really ticked when Maher goes off. He has already been canned before for what he said on ABC. Now he's on HBO so he doesn't give a crap anymore because he knows you can do whatever you want on HBO and he won't be apologizing to anyone for it. Finally think if instead if Obama had a daughter who got knocked up unmarried and underaged like Bristol. Do you think the republicans like Libaugh would show a bit of mercy? Not in a million years.

Captain drunka$$. Rush has never attacked the children of the President or of the Vice President ever. It is not a minor offense when you insult a 14 year old CHILD!!!! This isn't a Hollywood actress sleeping around or partying. We're talking about a child who lives in a rather protective world. A child. Does that get through your liberal thick skull? If this action really happened the player would be in jail for 20 years. The joke isn't a joke. It's slander. Both people should sue Dave for every penny CBS is insured for. They won't get it but the lawyers will. I'd take him down like they would if it were Rush.

He did, in fact, admit that his jokes were in poor taste.
So, what else is new?????????? He and every other comedian on the planet tell jokes that can be considered as 'poor taste'.
Letterman never mentioned ANY names in his jokes, and he has already explained, MORE THAN ONCE, that the jokes were about the 17-year-old daughter who now has a child (can't remember her name, don't care if I know it or not).
Letterman has already explained, MORE THAN ONCE, that he does not and will not 'make fun of' or tell any jokes of any sexual nature regarding MINORS.
And CaptainLucid is absolutely correct.
If the Palins were Democrats, they would have been skewered by you all and the Republicans a long time ago, and any subsequent jokes about them from anyone would have been considered HILARIOUS by Republicans and by you all.
This just more of the usual self-righteous cr*p and hypocrisy from the righties.-

DUDE , I KNOW YOU MEAN WELL, BUT WHEN YOU'RE DEALING WITH A REPUBLICAN, YOU'RE DEALING WITH A ******** OF CLAY JUST SITTING THERE WONDERING WHAT ITS PURPOSE IN LIFE IS. IT'S NO SURPRISE THAT SARAH PALIN THINKS LETTERMAN WAS REFERRING TO WILLOW. SHE HAS NO SENSE OF LOGIC. A LITTLE SENSE OF LOGIC TELLS YOU THAT 1)WILLOW AND BRISTOL LOOK VERY MUCH ALIKE SO THE WRITERS MAY HAVE GOTTEN THE IDENTITIES MIXED. 2) THE ONLY ONE RECENTLY KNOCKED UP IS BRISTOL. 3) THE ONLY ONE GOING AROUND PREACHING ABSTINENCE IS BRISTOL. 4) DAVE NEVER SAID WILLOW OR BRISTOL, HE SAID HER DAUGHTER. SO NOW IF ANYTHING THE ONE CAUSING TROUBLE IS SARAH. SHE'S TOTALLY ACCUSING HIM OF SOMETHING SERIOUS BASED ON HER INTELLIGENCE; WHICH CONSIDERING SHE WENT TO 6 TWO YEAR COLLEGES FOR A BACHELORS DEGREE IN WRITING, BUT DOESNT READ, WAS SO SURE THAT JOE THE PLUMBER WAS GOING TO BE THE ICING ON THE CAKE IN HER TWO-MONTH ATTACK ON OBAMA (WHICH BTW, SHE NEVER TOLD AMERICA WHAT SHE WOULD DO FOR THIS COUNTRY AS ALL SHE DID WAS BASH OBAMA). AND THAT TURNED OUT TO BE A NICE ONE, HE WAS DUMBER THAN HER. ---- THAT OUGHT TO BE ENOUGH TO TELL A NORMAL MINDED PERSON WHO THE JOKE WAS AIMED AT.. BUT REMEMBER I SAID "NORMAL MINDED". LOOK AT THE REPUBLICAN IDIOTS ALL OVER THESE BOARDS. YOU CAN EASI;Y SPOT ONE WHEN THEY MAKE NO SENSE ON ANYTHING. I JUST REPLIED TO ANOTHER POST WHERE THIS PUKE SCHMUCK SUGGESTED THAT LETTERMAN GO TO MILWAUKEE AND CRACK RAPE JOKES TO CHILDREN. WHAT WOULD THAT PROVE? DAVE IS A LATE NIGHT ENTERTAINER. SARAH PALIN TURNED IT INTO A MORNING AND AFTERNOON CARTOON. NOW IF KIDS ARE HEARING THESE TYPE OF JOKES, IT'S BECAUSE SARAH HERSELF HAD TO MAKE A BIG MONSTROSITY OUT OF IT ON MORNING AND AFTERNOON TELEVISON. GOES TO SHOW HOW MUCH SHE REALLY CARES ABOUT KIDS.

President Obama is heading to Russia, Italy and Ghana for almost a week next month.
The White House says Obama will travel to Moscow from July 6-8 for a summit with Russia's president, Dmitry Medvedev. Their agenda includes reducing the stockpile of nuclear weapons, cooperating on nonproliferation and trying to work out differences on a U.S. missile defense system in Poland and the Czech Republic.
Obama plans to attend a Group of Eight summit in L'Aquila, Italy, from July 8-10, and hold talks with world leaders there on issues such as the economic crisis and climate change.
The trip is to end with a visit to Accra, Ghana, from July 10-11. It will be Obama's first presidential stop in Africa. Obama's father was from Kenya.
Guess Obama is happy having the US Taxpayers footing the bills for his absences from the capital. That way he isn't responsible for anything but "improving our image. -

So if you want to talk about this on equal terms, why did dave make comments like that in the first place? Could it be he's a talentless hack with talentless writers taking orders from the Obama team? He attacked a kid. A kid. Does that get past your Prozac popping, marajuana smoking, gin soaked brain? He talked about a child having sex with a player. That's just sick. You guys want the FCC to go after talk radio, where's your signature on a petition pulling his license? Where's the letter to CBS complaining about an attack on a kid? I bet you got your panties in a bundle when the former Miss America said she didn't like same sex marriage but to attack a 14 year old conservative is just fine. Move on? I'm sorry, I can't. Guys like him attack us constantly saying anything and everything claiming it was funny. Last year SNL claimed the Palin daughter was knocked up by her dad. Now another late night show claimed she was sleeping with a player. Where does it stop? Claiming one of the Obama daughters did something? This is a terrible action and something must be done. I personally wish an attorney would sue Letterman for damages on behalf of the child. I could easily see a 8 to 9 figure judgment. And that's only from Letterman. I wonder what the costs to CBS would be from the FCC. Attacking a CHILD! Some joke.
