That's how the Right-wing sees this. The attack on public schools is not because they don't work. It's because they are public. And so every attempt - organizing the curriculum to reflect corporate interests and values - to turn over school spaces to advertising agencies (billboards, advertisements in bathrooms, junk food in cafeterias) is to inform kids that the only thing that matters is the relationship between knowledge and money.
