Though I'm ok with helping the world out, since CA is falling apart at the seams, our economy is hurting, we are in two wars and we are about to be saddled with a large new program called Universal Health Care, is it wise for us to keep sending money abroad?

Zimbabwe is a desperate case Slate and nobody is helping there in any substantial manner. I listened to a long segment on BBC Radio last night - from a reporter who was in the country illegally - the BBC has been banned there for a long time.
There was a long section on schools - many of which are cloosed or completely destroyed and even more horrific a section on young girls being forced to sell their bodies to survive. I mean that literally - many of the children on the programme were on the verge of starving to death.
      A real horror show.

just hand out money right and left.

Give more than a country's annual budget to a country to take gitmo ddetainees.

      Wonder whose money this is?

Where is that money coming from? 73 million can help a lot of poor Americans.

Mugabe rules the country from what I have read and I really doubt any of the aid will get to the people. Mugabe has already denied doctors in the country for medical help.

Damn it! We need to get our own house in order before we give any monies to foreign countries.
