Fishermen Snag $50 Million Of Your Stimulus Money »
Posted By btatman22 5 months, 2 weeks ago in Political News(Op-Ed) It may come as a shock to some liberals, but the government doesn’t have any of its own money. All the money the government has comes from the taxpayers. That’s you and I. All of the “stimulus” money comes from us. We earn the money practicing our chosen occupation, and the government steals it from us to fund social pet programs that only a few elite liberals want.

I imagine these fish farmers support democrats or they're in a blue state prolly both. We now have more blatant partisan politics today than I've ever seen in my lifetime. Congratulations liberal progressive democrats you sure have changed and reshaped the country.

I did read some of the package and it's all pork. Most of it goes to government at lower levels and failing green businesses. It also increases welfare. The congress wanted to get this one under Bush but couldn't. But after the people elected more Democrats it became a piece of cake. It's all vote for me money.

50 little ol million? You see, that's why this economy is in the "fish tank"

You think maybe its time to move forward instead of dwelling on the past? The war happened, its not over, Obama promised to get us out of Iraq, we are still waiting for him to fulfill that promise.
Now onto the here and now. There is far more than 12 billion in this stimulus package, 50 million for fish is just one of hundreds of provisions in this so called stimulus bill.
Without dropping any names here. Poll numbers are starting to drop. People are starting to wise up to the insane spending. Billions in Iraq within the first year.. try TRILLIONS within 6 months under the new administration and the new senate. Led by none other than.. you guessed it ________.
Enjoy living in your fantasy world obsessing over GW, there is a new president in town, and he should be fixing the economy, not adding more government pork. -

I guess Microsoft is in financial trouble too and really needed this walkway:
Reply
CNN:
Should a bridge that would connect two campuses at Microsoft's headquarters be funded with $11 million from the federal stimulus package?
Marchione applied for federal stimulus money after costs jumped on the project from $25 million to $36 million. Marchione says the increase in costs were due to a rise in construction prices and because the bridge will be built on a diagonal in order to connect Microsoft's original East campus with a newer West campus that are split by a public highway.
I really liked the excuse Marchione used - the walkway will be open for public use
All you have to do is read through the projects and realize there are NO priorities
New Jersey getting $1.3 million in stimulus to stabilize a bridge that the town is planning to tear down anyway.
$190,000 will go to the Buffalo Bill Historical Center to digitize and edit the William F. Cody Research Project.
State of Tennessee $62 million in stimulus money on a solar farm. But it will only generate enough energy to power between 600 and 700 homes. That's hardly cost effective is it?
Border crossing in Montana $15 million less than two cars per day actually cross the border there
Ray's Town Lake in PA $100,000 to conduct a survey to determine the density of the deer population on the campground.
Omaha, Nebraska $500,000 to restore pavements and curbs in order to make them more "historically accurate"
Union, New York over $578,000 to combat its homeless problem but officials in a news conference said they don't have a homeless problem but are now looking at other ways to spend the money.
Hawaii $590,000 to turn a barn into a storage facility (wouldn't it just be cheaper to build a new storage facility?)
Billings Montana asked for stimulus money to improve the landscaping in front of the Crown Plaza Hotel
State of Illinois will get stimulus money for road signs to announce to drivers that the construction of the road you are driving on is being paid for with stimulus money.
Those who haven't read the projects in the bill need to take a look-

There is nothing within our government that is cost effective.

What about the 2 billion plus that goes to the oil industry?
Pork is about somehow returning money sent from a state to the federal government. Let's take a look at the states you have provided examples of:
State of Washington - 89% of funds returned per capita
State of New Jersey - 65% of funds returned per capita
State of Wyoming - 109% of funds returned per capita
State of Tennessee- 129% of funds returned per capita
State of Montana - 143% of funds returned per capita
State of Pennsylvania - 108% of funds returned per capita
State of Nebraska - 109% of funds returned per capita
State of New York - 82% of funds returned per capita
State of Hawaii - 143% of funds returned per capita
State of Illinois - 78% of funds returned per capita

I think it is fair to say that anyone getting over 100% is at an advantage in the return to state game. It may be a bit unfair to go after states like New Jersey, New York, and Illinois considering how little is returned on their dollar. You might even want to consider that their representatives are ineffective.
