The mother suffered serious gunshot wounds and is presently in intensive care.

A slippery slope. Killing people is illegal, as it should be. Hanging out with a bunch of gun-toting, racist ******** is an exercise of one's freedom of association. Yoy have to protect other people's freedoms if you wish to protect your own, even though you may detest the way in which they exercise such freedoms.

There's no way to ban sociopaths, be they extremists of any type. They appear with regularity in all populations, and although some may be white supremacists, others islamic militants, others latino cartels or black gangbangers, it would be futile to try to "ban" them.

I agree with Deathray and The Realizer--we have rule of law in place to sort it out. As long as most of us agree these groups are repugnant, I think it's a good sign.

We already know but here is the paradox. To rip them from their hiding place we must become like them. I know a lot of people out there would love to just blow the crap out of the guy who killed the doctor who performed late term abortions but if we do we become filled with hate and we replace them. A corollary of this is that we need to use our powers of reason and our lizard brains also to detect when the rules change, and to revise our strategies and tactics accordingly.
Plenty of people knew they were going down the wrong road in Germany in the 1930s. Not enough of them understood that the Nazis were not playing by the same rules, and that their "democracy" had been subverted. They were consequently ineffective in thwarting the fascist rise to power. -

I have to love what MSNBC is becoming. I just can't get enough of when they show a republican screaming about how Sotomayor says her life experiences will make her a better justice means she is racist. Then they follow it with a clip of the same senator hearing Thomas or Scalito saying the same thing almost word for word but because they are republicans the senator praises them. They are doing a great job showing that most republicans are dumb hypocrites. Liberals know their best weapon against the republicans is an educated populous and a free press.

I completely understand your point and agree with you to not make full judgments based on the charges.
The problem is that we are a very self-righteous society and judgment is only relative. I believe if the justice statues were taken down out of court houses, no one would notice that the lady and blindfold are gone. HEY, just take off her blindfold. I would love to see such an experiment and see the results.
Prejudice comes from "pre"judge. It is the root for most racism and declarations that people of different culture, color, nationality and background are of lower class and statue. This is what nourishes such people's hatred and decree that such acts should not qualify as a crime as much as if committed against people of their same ilk.
Mark my word, I expect innocent Muslims will be amongst the next group to suffer more of these types of crimes. My family has suffered as black people from this same type of injustice and terrorism. -

The original idea was just to watch, report, and deter by being there like a security guard. I have done some security guard work and when I was guarding a housing development under construction I had to tell the teens who were making out or smoking weed to move along. Another part is to be visible so people know not to become a problem. I did not just to decide to whip their ass to teach them a lesson because that is not my position. When they were founded the Minutemen said that they would monitor areas of the desert and report sitings and call the border patrol. Now it looks like they are taking it upon themselves to become vigilantes and that is outside what they can legally do.
