    I don't know about increased brain activity. I have too many friends who once they hit their early to mid forties insomnia hits. Insomnia is very common when women are starting menopause. If a woman is also going to college at same time that adds a lot of brain activity.

    Insomnia is also very common for a lot of pregnant women. In fact in the case of pregnant women I'd say for some of them the brain is working too much. Especially if it's first pregnancy, living environment isn't supportive, etc.

    I think this, like a lot things, is not a "one size fits all" type of answer. People are different.
