In other words, Palestinians can have their own state as long as not a real state but a territory fully controlled by Israel, i.e., the status quo. Great progress!-

As far as I recall Palestinians did not yet go as far as Israel did. They DID NOT YET recognize the right of a Jewish state to exist on ANY conditions.
I also do not recall ANY Palestinian counter-proposals to Netanyahu's or his predecessors' offers except for destruction of Israel.
Do you have problems with THAT, Candida?
In any case, you may consider that negotiations usually start from one side making an offer. This offer can be accepted or rejected. If it is rejected, there are two possibilities as well: it is possible for the other side to make a counter-proposal and continue the negotiations; the other is to go away making future negotiations not possible. Until now the Palestinians always chose the latter way and this is the reason they do not have a state of their own yet. -

“Negotiations” without law are immoral
Reply
There are, of course, several objections to the idea of “negotiations” in the Israel-Palestine context. In particular, it is immoral to put a weak party and a strong party together and expect a fair outcome when the strong party is in permanent occupation and has its military boot on the other’s throat.
It is immoral to expect a weak party to negotiate with a strong party that’s daily in breach of international law, commits war crimes and acts of piracy and continues to steal land and dispossess the weak party's citizens in order to unlawfully expand its borders.
It is immoral for the sponsors of the negotiations to be partisan and vilify the democratically elected representatives of the weak party, and to refuse to acknowledge the weak party's right to political self-determination and territorial integrity.
It is immoral to force negotiations without first establishing a level playing field in terms of compliance with international law and UN resolutions. The international community has shirked this responsibility for decades - not because the peoples of the member nations are reluctant but because their leaders are corrupt.

They can have a state as long as it is not a beligerant state. They already have a state- It's called Jordan. Jordan was created by the British in 1922 to be a national Palestinian homeland. Just out of curiosity, why do they need another state? I'm not against it, I just want to know why you think they need another one.

Read at the top of this page, Candida:
"Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced he will back a Palestinian state...
There is already one state in Palestine. It's named Israel. Adding one and one (in this case, the state of Israel and the Palestinian state Netanyahu will back up) gives TWO states... and from here just a small mental effort should make it clear that by backing up TWO states in Palestine Netanyahu is endorsing a two-state solution.

FTA: 'Nabil Abu Rdainah, a spokesman for Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, said the Israeli leader's speech "torpedoes all peace initiatives in the region".'
Reply
He is right. Mr. Netanyahu can talk as much as he wants about how much Israelis love peace and want to end hostilities, as long as he sets unacceptable conditions to achieving that peace, no movement toward it will happen. Palestinians would be crazy to accept his conditions.-

Possibly. Palestinians, however, would be SMART to make a counter-offer realistic enough for Israel to consider... but they're not THAT smart, are they? -

Sure. it'll be demilitarized like Gaza...
Reply
Israel pulled out... and those "peace-loving" Palestinians decided to put all their efforts into lobbing thousands of rockets aimed at Israeli civilians, instead of building up a peaceful state.
So how exactly is Israel supposed to trust that a Palestinian state won't be used to lob more missiles from an even much closer range? After all all those peace-lovers from Hamas have boldly proclaimed that they will not rest until Israel is obliterated and the Jews are driven into the sea.
So tell me, all you Israel-bashers out there, how exactly do you make peace with that?-

They shouldn't, but give me one good reason why the Palestinians should trust anything that Israel says or does? Should they demand that Israel be demilitarized too? Like most coins, this one has two sides too.
"After all all those peace-lovers from Hamas have boldly proclaimed that they will not rest until Israel is obliterated and the Jews are driven into the sea."
At least they are honest. Israel speaks of peace while gradually squeezing Palestinians off the land where once they lived, starving them, making their daily lives miserable, and killing them by the thousands.
How to make peace there? Good question, indeed.

On top of that it's no to stopping the expansion of the Israeli incursions into the West Bank. And no to the rightful compensation or right of return for hundreds of thousands of natives who left their property before the war in 1948.

They can't have a right of return and a state at the same time. The purpose of a state of their own is to have a country for all Palestinians, to absorb the refugees and to build for the future. Every other country in the world has done it. Israel absorbed every Jew that was kicked out of the Arab countries between 1948 and 1952. They received no compensation or right of return from any of the Arab countries. BTW, a Palestinian national homeland should include all Palestinians- Muslims, Jews and Christians. It is a clear mistake both historically and regionally to think that Palestinians are only Muslims. If Muslims can live in Israel, Jews should have the right to live in a Palestinian state. If not, it's clearly racism.

The whole idea was to take a jab at Obama and side swipe the Palestinians as well. Nothing was said that would actually mean any kind of real concession, but the fact that he agreed to Palestinians having a state. That's a start. Now as far as the other ridiculous proposals this doesn't increase an atmosphere of peace. It just taunts their adversaries, and causes them to reject the offer. Israel will now come back and say, "Well we made the offer, and they didn't take it. So it's on them now". What the Palestinians should do is propose an equally ridiculous offer and send the ball back into their court. One similar to this. We agree to recognize israel's right to exist, but we want all of East Jerusalem and would like it to be our capital. We will accept the pre 1967 israel border. A complete withdrawal of all troops and settlers in Palestinian territories as marked by the pre 67 borders. A road form Palestine to Gaza run by Palestinians.

You had that and still attacked the smaller Jewish state 4 times. No, what you want is the eradication of Jews as you have done with Hindus in Pakistan, once over 50% of the population, now less that 0.1%.

The Palestinians daily attempt to kill Jewish people. The Jewish people protect themselves. The Palestinians have given up NOTHING. Other Arab countries refuse to take them in. Lebanon had them, and threw them out.
Until these people learn diplomacy, they dont even deserve their own country. why, so they can be Irans pawn and attack Israel daily? Yeah thats really smart.
A POW camp? You should go see whats going on you moron. The more Israel gives, the more the Palestinian people want. One thing they DO NOT WANT is PEACE. Did you know that literally everything in Israel revolves around the yearning of peace? The music, television, prayers, EVERYTHING! Palestinans preach killing, that killing yourself as long as it kills innocent jewish people is a smart thing.
You guys have to learn whats really going on, then speak. Until then, keep sticking with CNN.
