Once the masters of evil politics, Republicans have been reduced to half-assed buffoonery, providing comic relief for desperate times »
Posted By Radiofreeeuropa 5 months, 1 week ago in Political NewsF ollowing the Republican Party of late
has been a movingly depressing experience, sort of like watching
Old Yeller die — if Old Yeller were a worm-infested feral
bitch who spent the past eight years biting children at bus stops
and ******** in neighborhood swimming pools. As a useful force in
American politics, the Republicans have been dead for a while now.
But in the seven months since Sarah Palin's nomination, they have
taken on an intriguing new role: providing much-needed comic relief
during dark times, serving as the unofficial rodeo clowns of the
Financial Crisis Era.

I hope the Republicans just keep it up. They are eating themselves alive from the inside out. All they have left are wrong headed right wing fanatics who don't have an original thought amongst them. They tell lies, use their normal fearmongering tactics, and allow total idiots like Cheney, Palin, and the talk show blowhards to speak for them.
Reply
No need to worry about their reemergence so long as they act like they do. It took 8 long years for the American people to finally figure out how they totally screwed up this country and we will not soon forget! -

Who is this fat woman and why has she not sung?

Rassmussen has support for Dems and Republicans EVEN in a national survey just this past week. A remarkable turnaround in less than five months. Clearly, the "patient" is recovering
nicely and will soon walk away with it all.-

Where? in South Carolina? 67%of Americans have an overall favorable opinion of the President .

No one likes congress...except for their own reps irregardless of party affiliation.
38% of Republicans have an unfavorable view of Republicans. (And bless them for being honest! - there is little to like about the record and absolutely no vision for the future.)
As to who is the leader of the GOP, whose flatulence is passing for policy...

Sorry, that's some sad affair.

GW, Merlin-Those comments are in fact exactly the "useful" political discussion they are talking about in the article. I have to lol at the people that see this as right v left, republican party v democratic party, conservative v liberal. Blind allegiance to slogans and false ideology may be some comfort zone for some, most of us now see far beyond that. It's a question of keeping ignorant and greed driven imbeciles away from power. Where there is a power created, these types will be there to abuse it. I will say there are some who are neither dim witted, nor driven entirely by personal greed right now in the Democratic party, I can't think of a republican I would say that about. Certainly not any of the ones given national exposure at least. This will change, as inevitably the power is more in the hands of these Democrats, they will be the targets now. And outside of Obama and a few others, I don't see many who are capable of resisting the call of corruption. Republicans have stood for absolutely nothing that benefits the common man. Now they stand for absolutely nothing at all. You may have some warm fuzzy memory of it's long defunct slogans, but the actions have been observed and found wanting.

Now see ... this is clear evidence to me of your psychotic mindset, gwhiddon.

I have never known RFE to mention working for government ... or collecting money from government.
YOU, on the other hand, have spent a LIFETIME on the receiving end of taxpayer money.
AS WAS YOUR FATHER!
Your own bio clearly states that your father was an Air Force officer for 20 years.
While it's true that I respect your father's service to our nation ... you are IGNORING the FACT that this is being on the Government DOLE ... i.e. being the recipient of Government Largesse.
Get it?
In addition, your bio goes on to state that YOU YOURSELF have been the recipient of Government Money.
In fact, you owe your very career to the Government. As you state:
" ... 4 years as a Radioman in the Navy from 1966-1970, 5 years working for NASA tracking stations, 4 of it in Fairbanks, Alaska ..."
That's great that you also served your country ... but do you appreciate the fact that RFE's and my tax dollars ... not to mention the GOVERNMENT ... funded your entire LIFE?
You should show more appreciation.
OR ....
Maybe that's why you are so bitter towards Government .... you feel as though you couldn't have made a life for yourself were it not for Government ...
I understand that ... it's a common malady among embittered people.
Hopefully, you will grow some gonads - and take responsibility for your OWN life choices ... don't you think it's about time?

I have found that many, many, many people are typically uninformed, yet they tend to spew their opinions on specific issues regardless? If one would simply do some legitimate research, one would then find that during the 08" election, Northern states had far more racially-motivated incidents than those in Southern states. I would also simply and truly say that there are racist and bigoted people in every demographic, in every city and county in the U.S. as well in Europe and elsewhere abroad. There are also certainly Republicans and Democrats spread around in these same areas almost equally....I mean the person who wrote the above artical is an obviously biased person based on her statements concerning the Republican Party although Republicans will differ in opinion just any individual would? Listen lady, a little piece of advise for you....have another twinkie and start doing some research before you have another brain-fart like the one you had above, um-K?

Clinton's record -
Reply
- average economic growth of 4% for 10 sequential years (the longest sustained growth in the history of the USA)
- created 22.5 million NEW jobs
- median family income rose from $42612 in 1993 to $48950 in 1999.
- overall unemployment rate dropped to 4.0% when he left office.
- average yearly inflation rate of 2.5%
- poverty rate declined from 15.1% to 11.8%
- welfare recipients dropped from 7.5 million to 6.6 million
- created budget surpluses from 1997 to 2001. The 2001 budget was passed in 2000 by Clinton.
- Omnibus Tax Reconciliation Act of 1993 which raised taxes on the top 1.2% of taxpayers and decreased taxes on 15 million low income families and 90% of small businesses, and mandated balanced budgets.
- created the Roth IRA
- increased the child tax credit
- created NAFTA and about 300 other trade agreements with nations around the world. These resulted in cuts in import taxes on foreign goods imported here and import taxes in countries that imported US goods there. This has been called the largest international tax cut in the history of the world. It kept consumer prices and inflation down here in the USA and internationally.
I wonder if you did ANY research before making a stupid, sweeping statement like "Clinton made a mess."?

Sad but true. The Republicans have allowed themselves to drift away from the conservative idealism of Ronald Reagan only to embrace the hatemongering of the Extreme Right not just from the hardline Christian Phalangists who condemn abortion & same-sex marriage, but from Right-wing dispensers of virulent, vitriolic hate such as Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Charles Krauthammer. Ann Coulter, etc..
Reply
If the GOP is serious in gaining back its lost support base with the American people, they should strive to disassociate themselves from Right-wing Christian groups & embrace the ideals of Ronald Reagan & other such conservative pragmatists.
Just for the record, i happen to be a dyed-in-the-wool LIBERAL! -

Congratulations on your birthday. That's most impressive. 75! Wow ... And it's interesting how you characterize it as a 'short' ride.
Although ... the years DO seem to be slipping by faster and faster.
Well done.
