The current economic downturn is hitting many industries really hard, and one industry that is really feeling the pinch is the wedding industry.  As stock portfolios have declined and layoffs have multiplied, brides have found themselves with stricter budgets and fewer resources.  In fact, the Wedding Report has indicated that the wedding industry's projected revenues for 2009 have slipped to $56 billion , which would be down by 4 billion dollars from last year.

    I would sadly assume divorces are up. The impact of our economic crisis will further erode many already weak and struggling family units.

    Ah, in spite of sounding trite, if more people had access to marriage (gays), then the market share would be larger and result in more wedding business and sales.

    Or if you're really desperate pass a law that if you have more than two kids you have to marry someone. lol.

      Now we have an understanding why marriage is so important. It is an economic issue, not one between two individuals.

        The marrage industry is big. But it's nothing compared to the divorce industry. I guess lawyers have more clout than wedding cake bakers and photographers.
