As stock portfolios have declined and layoffs have multiplied, brides have found themselves with stricter budgets and fewer resources. In fact, the Wedding Report has indicated that the wedding industry's projected revenues for 2009 have slipped to $56 billion , which would be down by 4 billion dollars from last year.

I agree 100%. Unfortunately, this is not a a detail I hear raised very often from those who would casually advocate that we allow this industry or that industry of their choice to die. But I suppose that's because it's hard for some people to then explain why many of the same arguments used as an excuse to ban gay marriage suddenly evaporate. For instance, we haven't heard things like "we have to save Detroit because we have to strengthen hetero marriage come hell or high water or the the world will end at sunset. None of the strict, hetero marriage aficionados have tried to convince me that the human race will die out (because everyone knows, people who aren't married don't have sex) if we let millions of families descend into homelessness. Interesting, huh? . ;-P

Ah, in spite of sounding trite, if more people had access to marriage (gays), then the market share would be larger and result in more wedding business and sales.
